Curling is elegant and strategic

Double-touched the handle before the hog line? After the hog line? Touched the granite?
Before the hog line and on the granite.

A curling rock weights about 40 pounds (38-44). Curlers practise their slide and their arm extension for a smooth rock delivery.
A finger touching the rock would have zero effect on the rock afaik. It might be wise to remove Marc Kennedy and put in the alternate. Sad state of affairs.

What did the Canadian curler do (at competition)? Did he touch a stone?
Boopgate.

Canadian curler accused by Swedes of double touching stone.

He had a meltdown and told Swedes to F off.

Lots of videos online showing the boop.

Lots of interpretation and mis-interpretation of rules.

Federation makes a statement.

Canadian women’s player and Great Britain men’s player accused of double touch today with stones removed.

Canadian women’s and Great Britain players today didn’t have boops just a slight feathering as they removed their hands from releasing the stones.

Refs observing are implementing rules as announced by Federation but it’s akin to when the technical caller started calling base and level 1 twizzles on the ice dancers mid-season.

Mess.

Touchgate is over? This article mentions that World Curling is going back to the original umpire setup.

Canada ends 3 game loss streak

"It was the first draw in women's play since World Curling reversed course on its umpire setup. Homan had a rock pulled in a loss to Switzerland on Saturday when an umpire monitoring the hog line called her for double-touching the stone.

The sport's governing body said Sunday night that umpires would return to their regular setup of monitoring the delivery area only when requested by the opposing team."

I wonder if it had anything to do with Great Britain men having a rock pulled?

Probably had something to do with this too. Same guy who started it all.

But it most likely has to do with every single match up now has someone complaining to umpire about possible double touch.

In the end, Edin acknowledged that directly confronting Kennedy may not have been the right way to go about his quest to end double-touching— both for the sport and for his team, defending gold medalists who failed to make the Olympic semifinals.

“It turned into a real (problem), and we haven’t managed it,” said Edin. “If we could turn back time, I think it would have been a lot better to just keep (ignoring) what’s happening out there.”

A day late and a dollar short. Edin and his rink spent a lot of time in Canada curling in for money bonspiels and was quite popular. It really is unfortunate.
