2026 4CC - Free Dance

Wang/Liu

Stationary Lift 4 --> down to 3
One Foot 2/2
Stationary + Rotational Lift 4/4
Twizzles 4/4
Dance Spin 4
Serpentine Step 3/2

The program isn't bad [although in part or even completely recycled from pre-disappearance], still think they put all their energy into being able to qualify to the Olympics and their season hasn't looked quite as strong since. Slide movement is so cool at the end, other choreographic elements are good too.

Even aside from their disappearance, COVID killed their momentum and they regressed so much even before the disappearance. It stopped being fun watching them a long time ago, the circumstances surrounding the disappearance just make it worse.

Wang/Liu have always looked like a pair team to me. And not just because of height difference. All these years, edges and polish are lacking.
I was just thinking that I always thought they were Shen/Zhao asked to fill in for Ice Dance at the last minute.

Lim/Quan

This could've been such a good program but IMO the vocals through the second 2/3 just ruin it. I don't get the program from that point.

Rotational Lift 4
One Foot 4/3 -- I think hers will drop to a 3 at best, maybe 2 as I watched her specifically and those edges were flats definitely once and potentially twice
Curve Lift 4
Dance Spin 4
Twizzles 4/3 --> again his issue
Diagonal Step 3/3
Straight Line Lift 4

Very, very high levels and GOE for now.

One foot for her stayed level 4. There's no way, but whatever. Somewhere (probably in the 6th row) Shawn Rettstatt is spontaneously combusting after being really precise and harsh-- paving the way for level 4 one foots here.

Yoshida/Morita

One Foot 3/4 -- LOL. Here we go. I'd say 3 at best again. Edit: his did indeed drop to level 3
Twizzles 4/4
Straight Line + Rotational Lift 4/4
Dance Spin 4
Circular Step 3/3
Stationary Lift 4

Returning to this after Thomas ripped apart their Turandot in Beijing earlier this season. Better for them.

So this is an X-Men program? Dark Phoenix in particular? Or just the middle part?

I'm just saying it now- the fact that there are two one foot Level 4 calls (basically unheard of) ALREADY and level 3 step sequence calls, the top skaters will be getting level 4 everything or just barely missing it. This panel generous. A. F.

Chris doesn't know what he's talking about at all, the one foots were level 3 and level 4 initially. They didn't go up a level.

It didn’t feel that generous in the RD so it feels like a 180 in judging.

Yoshida/Morita got a level 4 pattern, and plenty of teams were pulling off level 3 midline and pattern. Also very very highly scored.

Harris/Chan

Another repeat program. That's three of the last four teams.

Dance Spin 4
Twizzles 3/4
One Foot 3/3
Rotational + Stationary Lift 4/4
Diagonal Step 3/2
Curve Lift 4

It's a cover.
Yeah but even with that they've cut it differently, the I love you's from the Everything Everywhere All At Once soundtrack don't show up in the version of Clair de Lune from that soundtrack. I'm a big fan of Son Lux and EEAAO so I've listened to the score a bunch.

In that area, I really wish people would stop mangling the Everything Everywhere All At Once soundtrack for programs. Even Shoma's program using music from the soundtrack was bad and I liked his Bolero which is easily one of my least favourite classical compositions.
