I know, I said they would when we saw the RD at NHK. The judges were thanks but no thanks and nothing changed.

They would have had to give up their Japanese citizenship years ago.

There was a discussion when Kavaguti renounced Japanese citizenship for Russian citizenship that she could reclaim Japanese citizenship in, IIRC, 10 years. It may have come from her in an interview, but it was a while ago.

If that's true, and the rule is inflexible, then it would have depended on when and if they formally renounced citizenship. If they did, each at 22, the maximum age for children to choose, she wouldn't have been able to reclaim it with a 10-year rule, since she's only 31. He would be at least 12 years past renunciation.

But if they never formally renounced, I have no idea what Japan would have done, had they decided to swoop in and compete in Dance for Japan, especially for the TE, and had the Japanese Fed accepted them. They were way past competing for the US in international competition for USFS to refuse to give them a release.

That was a really interesting program layout from N/M, starting with dance spin, doing the choreo step early in the program, doing a leveled step sequence after choreo elements.
