Tuberidze says that there's no point competing without Ultra-Cs.

This attitude that nothing less than gold is acceptable is the problem.

It creates profound pressure on Adeliia in 2026 and it created a mess among 'The "Triple A's" in 2022.

How bout, no starving, no doping and no external pressure. Let these girls do the best they can while skating for themselves. No gold medal? That's fine, you're still a valued person and asset to Russian Fed.

This was specific to Petrosian in the Olympics. What she actually said was that there was no point in Adelia competing without the points earned from her quads and 3A as without world ranking points (meaning she skates first), the judges would lower her PCS and she'd have no hope of a medal. Which everyone who follows skating knows very well that that is exactly what happens with the first group of skaters. She has to earn as many points as possible in the SP to place in the final group FS. There has been debate among Russian social media if she should play it safe or go for the 3A (SP and FS) and 2 quads and Tutberidze is saying they'll go all out. They have nothing to gain by playing it "safe." She was not saying there was no point in competing without ultra-C elements in general.

I find it interesting that people have no issue with Glenn doing a 3A or any of the younger Japanese skaters and I'm sure people are all aquiver that Liu is practicing the 3A.

There are things that can be lost though that mean more, or should. This seems to be a huge amount of pressure to put on one skater. If she leaves out the 3A and plays it safe but skates beautifully and confidently, she may not make it out of the short program seems to be what they are saying. However, I can't help but wonder how she feels about including all these high risk jumps - national hero if she lands them or ........ if she doesn't?

She lands them. You'd have to ask her, but if she doesn't do them, she loses. If she does them and falls, she loses. If she lands them, she will medal. It's that simple. There's more pressure on her than Gumennik because she has the potential to medal and for it to be gold. He's not going to beat Malinin for sure, but is in contention for bronze or even silver depending. If this was a normal quad for the Russians, she'd be in the top 3-4 skaters even without the Ultra-Cs. But, it's not and and she's not going to the Olympics just for the experience and to have fun. Neither are any of the other medal contenders for that matter. It's serious business and there's a lot on the line for all of them.

I think you overestimate her skating, her musicality, transitions and - not her fault - hackneyed choreo. If both Amber and Alysa land their 3As, Petrosian is behind them. She’s behind Kaori on skating skills and performance by a mile. It’s true she needs to land her ultras to have a chance, but unless 2 or 3 or 4 others really bomb, she’s finishing out of the medals.

The world has moved on from Eteri’s meaningless high kicks and wide-leg lutzes as in her SP in Beijing. No one is looking for another factory product.

world moved on by isu simply banning anyone under 17 and Russians lol

I don't even know who this skater is. Women's skating without the Tutberbots has been lovely.
Of course you don’t. No one does. Because isu banned her from All isu competitions! Maybe you will if she lands 3A and quads in Olympics! But then of course she is still banned from isu comps and will totally disappear forever. Maybe only returning in September 2029!!! Which is on the schedule as next time Russians can compete internationally

The purpose of the Olympics is not to go big or go home, it's to "provide a useful pathway for the creation and expansion of friendly relationships through mutual understanding." So going to the Olympics just for the experience and to have fun might be a good idea, especially since those quadruple jumps her coach wants her to do might cause permanent injuries.

Maybe this is true if you can compete all the time! Petrosian can’t see any of these people again until September 2029 if she even is competing then

But they give out ranked prizes! It’s not just for friendly relationships and the mutual understanding is
1. Gold
2. Silver first loser
3. Bronze second loser

Nothing else matters!

You and your orange god are so morally consistent.

That’s so crazy. The ioc is the organization that gives out ranked medals. They don’t have to. They could give everyone a ribbon
