Mone's chances at a massive score with the panel finally working are going to be rough.

But again, as I've probably said since the start of IJS and especially since the start of the </<< and even now the q, just keep it consistent in every competition. Mone should have been hit yesterday and wasn't, now suddenly she will be? Skaters like Nagasu and Thorngren and Zhou and Grassl depend(ed) on panels doing their jobs and now we see a panel literally shifting course mid-competition and suddenly the camera angle is good enough. I never want to hear about that ever again. Miyahara used to << half of her jumps and most of the time panels would turn completely the other way, even when the replay showed 10 times that she was MASSIVELY under.

Every jump should be reviewed, IMO, but she has 12 points pre-review on Isabeau so it's probably not going matter.

A beautiful technical performance, but I don't see anything that makes it Romeo and Juliet. Wonderful quality in skating, edge control, and speed.

I get why Mone went back to Last Dance and I'm not complaining about it by any stretch but I do like this a lot better for Mone style wise than Last Dance.

Chiba’s spins are timed so effectively to changes in the music and the bell sound effect. Great compositional effort!

Hate the program, love the skater. Just amazing. That step sequence was glorious. She generated and maintained speed so easily. You barely even notice the transition from the steps into the choreo seq, she didn't need to barrel through to gain speed at all, it just happens. It's so effective how she can just hold those long edges with speed to the music, while keep her upper body so stable, letting her arms just flow.

Lovely skate for Mone, but if I never have to hear "Missing You" in a skating program again I won't be sad.

The speed in the steps was incredible. I wish they would make skaters separate their two step sequences though.

I actually love this R+J music - but the costume is wrong for it. And I agree the interpretation wasn't there

Chiba's solo 2A looked scary again, but the one in the sequence looked fine. I'm not sure what's going on but they ought to do something about it.
Love the program though.

Prefer Isabeau’s style of skating. But Mone is excellent all around technician and skater. Are they going to miss her underrotated axel again? Not in love with this program…pretty standard stuff. But lovely.

Yes, that's what is particularly jarring for me - the costume doesn't fit the music at all - not the color, not the floral embroidery, and definitely not the sleeves.

But, she also really could be skating to just about any music for all the interpretation of this music she did - it's like they decided to let the costume do the heavy lifting of conveying she was Juliet because she certainly didn't convey any of Juliet's story or pathos in her skating.

I haven't really liked Mone's programs aside from her gypsy program from a few seasons back, but she is a very talented skater. That step sequence soared. I really enjoy both her and Isabeau but I think this was a well-deserved win for Mone.

Ok so, some totally not fancy GPF calculations. Nakai is most likely IN (ok fine more like almost certainly in). Isabeau not completely out, but she'll need help. Anyone else done with their GP events? Jia Shin completed hers last week and sadly she's out.
