3a fall, 3z-3t first jump really tilted in air but saved it on landing, 3r good, smooth basic skating, better in France, but fought for it and still gave it good effort on PCS

Nakai’s got short arms and it would help if someone worked on her using gestures that reach outward to give her length, instead of all those open-handed gestures. But her triples look like doubles and that’s amazing. She’s fun to watch!

Axel went up pretty crooked, and so did the Lutz in the combination, but she maintained the quality of the performance.

66.55 = 1st Place

Was hoping to see a live repeat SP performance from Ami but not to be today. 3A didn’t have a chance and good for her to muscle out the combo after the wonky first jump. Amazing program when skated clean.

See - this is why I didn't bet on Ami Nakai in my fantasy skating field this week. Her 3A has never been consistent. And that combo was gutted out. The program and presentation is still rather junior-ish.

I saw some people elsewhere predicting Ami to win easily and while GPdF was the first time I saw her I was still very surprised that people just assumed she was going to win here because managing to win your first senior GP is amazing, it's no guarantee lightning can strike twice.

Glad she didn't drop the arms the second the program ended. She did that a few times in her junior days, and you shouldn't do that. Keep selling it. Don't give the judges a reason to think you don't deserve high scores. 66+, not surprised since she got full credit for the 3A.

Not nearly as effective as two weeks ago but her skating is so solid. 3T q call, dunno. Looked okay both in real time and in the replay especially considering other jumps we've seen so far today.

Dear Ms. Nakai:

We admire your respect of The Quirk, especially as it pertains to a quirky film such as La Strada.
However, we have issues with your overuse of Quirkiness in your costume. There is a quirk such that it appears that you ran out of stones/sequins on an entire side of your torso. The other armpit appears as though the stones/sequins fell off due to overuse. In addition, the front of your skirt appears to have been badly cut or sewn poorly at the waistline, causing the audience great confusion. The back of your skirt displays the same "feature."
You are greatly confusing your audience with your overly Quirky costume.
We ask that you rectify these errors before your next competition.

Yes, and my skepticism isn't rooted in an active dislike of her or anything - I appreciated her in juniors quite a bit, which is why I knew that GPdF was the outlier performance and that a repeat here wasn't very likely.

The 3A was short but I’m hoping she skates well enough tomorrow to make the GPF.

Again I’m stuck with more ladies to root for than there are medals. Unfortunately for me my favourite Japanese girls (apart from Kaori) are Rino, Yuna and Ami and I’m dubious any will make it to Milan.
