Wesley Lockwood's bio says he's an electrical engineer, and... yeah. I can see that. Like he should be putting muddy footprints in my hall and complaning he's not getting overtime for this.

The SWE team didn't have those eye-catching costumes (particularly his) when I saw them live at the Skate Ontario July event 😸

Anna's looking at the scores, Wesley's wondering what cowboys the ISU had in to install this.

After 2 of the 4 groups we have an ice resurfacing.

Ted & Mark making the point, after the first of the two FRA teams, that this week's panel is much more strict than last week and the scores are noticeably lower. They were emphasizing that one should not compare the scores across competitions, particularly in dance.

A very quick clean up of the massive number of "stuffies" thrown out for the TUR team!

Playlist of individual RDs:

I woke up just in time for the last team. :) Can't believe how close Anderson/Dawson were on their twizzles. It's extraordinary that they can do that without running into each other!

This field is so wide open that, other than P/K, whoever medals will be first-time medalists, I believe. In fact, if A/D and H/V medal, they'll be medalling in their JGP debuts.

Stapert/Korotcov

only level 2 for her twizzles, low levels on quick step too, better on the midline, looking more relaxed as they get to the middle/end of the program, strong rotational lift

Kouevi/Homawoo

starting with good rhythm and energy, level 2 twizzles for both, he falls :( looks like it was on transitional steps before they started pattern, which put them behind the music on their patterns (and Mark says they left out a step, too), skating carefully afterward until curve lift, which was fine. Learning experience today

Bielodonova/Kachur

lunge and then they step into twizzles but it got them off sync level 2 twizzles, skating close together in the quick step but no key points, a couple sloppy steps in midline and negative GOE there, just seemed to be a lot of technical mistakes today, nice performance quality, though

Cohas-Bogey/Grishin

French 90's music (at least singer is counting in French), a bit far apart on the midline and then she falls :(, head rolls from her during fun curve lift, music switches to Nirvana, no one is getting key points today, little dicey from her on twizzles, too, felt like they were fighting through this program today

Cincon-Debout/Celestino

good unison, thought she dropped her free leg a bit on twizzle (levels 3 and 4) macarena time, there is lovely togetherness in the way they move and present, good levels on midline, negative GOE on rhumba, but hey, they got some key points on quick step! Good skate

Hienne/Varescon

Spice Girls, good rhythm through the Rhumba, nice carriage and presentation quality, started far apart on twizzles, nice expressive face from her--she looks like she's dancing and not competing, France looks like the deepest country so far on the JGP--so many quality teams!

Pidgaina/Koval

good twizzles nice speed and close together, nice edgework, music cuts were jarring--didn't make a cohesive whole, 3 key points on quick step, good basics in bad packaging, but undeniable quality in technique

Anderson/Dawson

good speed, some effort to interpret during rhumba, nice synchronization on twizzles, she's carrying the team on presentation

Now I checked the final results. Looking forward to seeing Turkish and British teams in the FD.

That was an experience I've never had before - rhumba/quick step to C+C Music Factory. Some issues with the both the midline step sequence, and the twizzles that really cost them.

Yann had a fall just at the start of the Rhumba, and it seemed like it threw him off for the rest of the performance. He spent a lot of time looking down while they were skating, and the doubt was etched all over his face.

Cohas-Bogey/Grishin

twizzles integrated nicely into the programs, very strict calling yet again, he lays down on ice and kicks his free leg during choreo step, only base level on dance spin, nice straight line lift into rotational lift

Yin/Yang

Coolest name pairing in the event, nice sync on first set of twizzles but got out of sync as went they went on, skating a little far apart, nice expression through the choreo steps

Batka/Yang

the non-sibling Czech team, smooth through the twizzles, nice choreo slide, not getting the levels on steps

Marcilly Vasquez/Engel

wide leg pants from him, a whole lotta spoken word, tentative through twizzles, secure lifts, losing points on choreo character steps
