2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics - Figure Skating Qualification

Looking over the entry lists more fully now...

Interesting that the FFSG has Pitot listed as their Men's entry trying to earn the 3rd spot rather than Economides. Wonder if that will change after French Masters. Also telling that the CFSA isn't even listing Xiangyi An as a substitute - they're rolling the dice on Ruiyang Zhang with Yi Zhu as the backup should Ruiyang get injured before then. And Estonia has zero confidence in Eva-Lotta to earn a 2nd spot - at least she got her trip to the Olympics in 2022.
There was an interview with Lois Libregts (who is now working alongside Romain Ponsart) last month that said Pitot would be going.

Sui/Han listed as substitutes. So I wonder if the Chinese fed is expecting him to be recovered enough later in the season to compete?

Tough ladies field for sure.

I don't think I've ever seen that Russian/AIN male skater before.

I'd love the Swedish dance team to make it, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Majorov for Milan! :mitchell:

With 5 ID spots now, it`s a much better shot, but depending on who Italy sends and the shape of the Georgian team. Will V/K recent scores hold? Will Y/M score better then Skate Ontario etc.? Everybody will need to delivers and mistakes will be costly

Italy is sending Manni/Roethlisberger, so unless a miracle happens, they will never qualify.

Of course I hope I'm wrong, and that they will earn a spot and then Tali/Lafornara go to Milan but, as I said, only a miracle IMO...

Apparently they are just placeholders and Italy will have a competition soon where they decide

Yes, you have. Gummenik has been on the senior circuit prior to the ban. Now, you might not have seen Dikidzhi as he has only been skating seniors the past couple of years. It's a shame he can't go as he has a pretty solid 4A as well as all the other quads. I've been patiently waiting to see him compete against Malinin and I guess I'll wait some more. Gummenik had a really good season last year. I hope he keeps his Dune SP as it's one of his best. Or did you mean the male dance partner? If so, then no you haven't seen him before.

Unless he meant the Belarus AIN entries because I've never seen them either.

Gummenik made "news" internationally last year because there was some insane kerfuffle over his skating music. His father is a Russian Orthodox priest and some skating fans were offended on his dad's behalf because Gummenik had a Rammstein program. They thought it was inappropriate for the son of a holy man and it got to the point that his father had to make a public statement that he was not offended by his son's program choice.

Kiibus top 2 scores last year are 157 and 154. Langerbaur's top 2 scores are 159 and 148. I mean...that's basically the same...not exactly highway robbery that Nataly got the spot...

@Amy L hit it on the head. I didn't notice their were two AIN listings on the roster. I was talking about Puzanau of Belarus.

I have seen Petr Gumenik before, so you're 100% right there.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with sending Langerbaur over Kiibus, especially seeing how Kiibus' comeback since her injury has been rough at best.

Mark Hanretty mentioned during the introduction at the start of the JGP Riga Women's SP that they'll be covering the OWG Qualifier in Beijing - which is conveniently scheduled during the week break between the first half & the second half of the JGP Series. So, it sounds like we'll be getting a Livestream from the ISU on their YT channel!

IN pairs, is this the same PRK team that competed at the last Olympics? There's a weird irony that PRK is allowed to compete and Russia isn't

PRK didn't have a pairs team in Beijing, but she was part of the pairs team that competed in Pyeongchang with her former partner, Ju Sik Kim.
