Fine with F/G wins in both events ,just wish they had a bit more "Oomph" in their program. It's Beyonce after all! Anyway. I love Lewis's skating and Lila clearly is working very hard to catch up.
But then I really can't get into any of the top level team's programs this year.

Ridiculous protocols: Gilles and Poirier with positive GOE (including +3) from several judges on that twizzle set where first he added an extra rotation and then he fell. Please explain why this isn't at least -3 if not lower? They probably should have been fifth in the free.

Listen, if ID were being judged fairly, both LajLag and CarPon would beat them next week and we wouldn't have to discuss them WDing from the GPF.
Whether the program is bad or not, a clean G/F deserve almost maximum GOE on every element and their skating skills simply are the best. C/P are not there. Not even close. So what exactly is unfair? Their program sucks? Last time I checked, collectively, the entire FSU fandom pretty much hates any pick 3 of the 4 programs of the top teams currently in the World.

So like every other ice dance protocol since the beginning of time?

Mark calling this the most unpredictable ice dance season ever with a question mark. Is there a more unpredictable season because this one is competing for number 1.
I think we have to wait till the end of the season to make that call. We've had a wacky, splatty GP series, but could still end up with a Chock/Bates, Gilles/Poirier, Guignard/Fabbri Worlds podium.

This is the first medal ceremony I've watched. All those medals look the same. And blend into their costumes. :p

I would have said that last year, but G&F looked AWFUL in France. I thought Lopareva and Brissaud should've beaten them even without the fall. I'm not sure what's going on, but all of their elements seemed shaky and neither program showed off their basic skating. It wasn't just the program. Maybe it was just an off competition. I couldn't believe I was watching the same team.

I'm pretty certain that any Ch element that gets ! can only be -1 max, on top of that. I can't be bothered to navigate the new ISU site but if it's still the case, another example of the system that should just MAX OUT at -1 and not give judges the option to score over that. I've been saying that shit for a decade or more now. Protocols show an entire one judge that went below a +1.

The elements are judged so oddly in dance with the needing X amount of positive criteria to get X GOE nonsense, but yeah. Twizzle should've been -3 at best because what positive is there in that? Unison not there. Exit - not there. Not creative when falling over, etc.

ETA- I see the panel bumped him up to L4 and there's no fall next to the element. So they really did deem it as 'after the element was complete' which... generous.

I agree with you regarding G/F. They are sublime. And let's face it which ever program they do, they always get low balled.

True, in France something really felt off. We'll see how the program looks during the next outing.

Correct (although link is old, but still accurate in content in this context).

I don't understand why rules like this aren't programmed into the system. If an element can't get higher than X GOE then the computer shouldn't show higher than X.
I have said this literally since before 2014 Olympics. If a skater falls twice and can only get X PCS, then why do they let the judges still input anything different? It's stupid. It's one extra line of code and a lot less complicated than some of the other rules.

And so ends another GP event. Just 1 to go before the final and I'm thinking I'll have to watch all of that on videos. Time difference and personal plans next weekend dictate that I must maintain a normal sleep routine.

Did Mark just say that Deanna said that she has only 1 glass of wine a year??? ONE glass?? I can go through more than that just to get through 1 skating event (take your pick).

Bye all.

So this document replaces the other document, I guess? Thank you for finding it, I couldn't be bothered to click around to a bunch of broken links. Is there an updated GOE chart that also reflects this? I'm sure there isn't, it's the ISU.
It’s a separate communication that described the change. Finally found the updated document (unavailable on ISU’s own website  ): https://www.usfigureskating.org/sit...a-files/2024-25 ID Marking Guides for GOE.pdf

Reduce by 2 grades and can’t be higher than +3.

Thank you for your work! That's a massive change and honestly if it's getting a '!' then I don't see why it would start at a hypothetical +5 anyways.

Okay, this one is acceptable I suppose :p but the fall getting called after the twizzles finished, I'm still not so sure about that one. And it seems like some of the judges still applied the GOE to the element w/ fall.
