FS Xwitter is already panning the Biographies section - it's coding to identify skaters' countries by their place of birth rather than the country they currently represent.

Even worse, as I'm digging down through it... The Pairs & Ice Dance bios are sorted by the FIRST name of the female partner - and there is no ability to filter the bios by country or anything else.

Who were these bozos who did this site re-design and WHY did they think mid-October was the ideal time for this launch? Did they not consult with anyone who uses their site for anything?

I just tried searching for a couple of ice dancers by name once already in the Figure Skaters bios section and got "Application error: a client-side exception has occurred" each time, so looks like things are definitely running great.

The bios section really is the worst. You just have to "load more" on the pairs & ice dance pages to even get to the letter of the alphabet for any team - how many people are going to waste their time clicking "load more" until they get to Madison Chock let alone Piper Gilles, Riku Miura or Sara Conti - just to name 4 of the 8 women who were one half of the WC medalists in the last two seasons in ice dance and pairs. And, God forbid you want to look up any pairs or ice dance teams by country - nope, that option does not exist.

I must be dreaming but...

ISU-skating.com

Looks like there's a lot more to be fully populated.

LOL, I commented on this about three or four hours ago and then Sylvia has made a new thread about it

IMO the previous version was a lot more user-friendly, I don’t wanna have to scroll down so much to find events and what I’m looking for, not a fan of who they used to redesign

Thanks for giving me the heads up to make this new thread ;):

Just an FYI, some of the upcoming competitions have entry lists available on the ISU website, though they're a bit hard to access unless you know the specific file path and event name.

The correct path is here - and if you click on the event name from the events page, you can copy & paste the correct event name in the portion of the link that I've bolded below:

EVENT_NAME

for example - NRW Trophy has entries already showing up and the link is as follows:

It doesn't work for every event - Tirnavia Ice Cup which is next weekend doesn't have any entries listed yet; but Volvo Cup that same weekend does already, so it's sort of hit & miss and may depend upon when the event organizer publishes the entry lists. Who knows what the logic is.

Software engineer here. The project was scheduled to finish in Aug (or earlier) but then people wanted more features and changed their minds about how the pages would look and a few other things took longer than expected and the schedule slipped.

And all the stupid decisions like sorting by First Name? Either some engineer who knows nothing about skating decided that. Or someone made a technical decision ages ago that made doing something sensible too hard. Though being designed by a committee is also possible.

Fellow software engineers, am I right?

Thumbs down from me. I don't like forced pull-downs, without any option to just enter the field. Like entering the country of a skater. And the "View More" is horribly cumbersome. I want as few clicks as possible to get to where I want to be, without a bunch of photos to trip over along the way.

Holy moly, is this new website a fail, if I have to post a message here asking people to help me find where the World standings are on this website then the website is a fail.

Too many moving parts, too many flashing photos, and images that load as u scroll down. Don’t need that. I need information quickly. OK now that my rant is over can someone tell me where the world standings are?

Start at isu.org home page.
At right end of top line, click on "HOME OF SKATING," to reach https://isu-skating.com/
Click on "FIGURE SKATING", which is the label for the first photo box at the left, to reach https://isu-skating.com/figure-skating/
At the right, look for "RESULTS" (the order of the tabs is: NEWS, RESULTS, EVENTS, SKATERS)
The three options on the drop-down menu for "RESULTS" are:

The World Standings page and Statistics page look the same as on the old version of the ISU site, but the new URLs start with "current.isu.org" instead of just "isu.org"

Hmmmm I’m on the iPad so I think it must look differently. I can’t find a drop-down menu.

Do you have a way to find the Biographies listings in the old format? i have discovered that doing a Google search for a skater's name brings up the old-format biography page for that skater, usually as the 3rd or 4th link. However, i wonder if those biographies will get updated as time passes.
