Agreed with others that note TSL says lots of shite that doesn't jive with others. But this time I think their point was that she doesn't extend enough, possibly because he's shorter. (And that they aren't memorable this year, but that's more along the shite lines) That, I have to agree with, and with only 8 cm between them according to the ISU bio, I do wonder if she struggles to feel confident skating "tall."

Re: C&P, I thought they were doing that... "be bitchy without being bitchy" thing when talking about C&P, in saying Anthony is magnificent, but I'm not a fan of their "they don't have the skating ability" take.

Re C/P....Christina has become a rock star (and I would say the same about Caroline Green). Anthony's skating skills have declined a bit over the past couple of seasons, probably due to his injury and surgery/lost training time. I think he had surgery last March or April and it can take up to a full year to recover. Hopefully, they can get some solid training time this summer and make the improvements they need to. B/c if not, they'll likely be passed by Zingas/Kolesnik next year (and that might happen no matter what, depending on each team's programs).

Regardless of that score can they beat bashynska and beaumont at home in their final event as juniors this looked like ridiculous political judging here.

When talking to press after the free dance Anthony stated that he wanted to work on skating skills during the off-season, and they talked about working on speed and power. So I think they are very aware of where they need to be and are ready to put in the work.
 
The fact that when they were talking about how Anthony is magnificent but they don't know that C/P have a future, when Christina is obviously the stronger partner this season, really tells you all you need to know. Not liking their programs is whatever, not everything can appeal to everyone, but to highlight Anthony specifically when he's been struggling with injury really shows that they don't know what they're talking about.

C/P and their team clearly have realistic expectations without being complacent and know what they need to do. Despite obviously coming off of surgery and a late start I've seen a significant improvement in Anthony's skating and performance at their debut and increasingly over the season. Anthony was such a talent as a junior, I have faith that with a full offseason to focus on skating skills is going to have a big impact. US ice dance is going to be very interesting over the quad.

Now that Anthony has a coach who can actually teach skating skills, I feel confident about this team.

I think Dave is just making things up to see who repeats it. Like this idea that Caroline hunches her shoulders -- I haven't had a chance to see 4ccs, but I did just watch NHK again, and I saw nothing of the sort. It's true that she doesn't extend as well as Michael does -- but that was her problem last year as well, in that Martha Graham piece that everyone loved. I felt then that she wasn't extending from the center of her body out with energy, so the full movement isn't there. I don't think it has anything to do with confidence. I think this is more a dance training issue. Plus the fact that Michael does very well with that.

Anthony is an Ivan, not a Scott. His current skating team hasn't figured that out yet. Or at least not how to maximize it. Which is OK. It's OK for Carreira & Ponomarenko to be pushed to try different styles at this stage of their career & to improve at those styles. (I assume this is part of why they went to a new coaching team in the first place). But Anthony shines more when he is having fun out there, not stuffed in a suit & trying to look suave;).

Caroline & Michael are more impressive when they perform the lifts low down to the ice or elements that show off their similarities. They were trained with the same technique. They have a lot of the same strengths. They aren't yet as in sync as the Parsons; but if they can show off the power they have and the synchronicity of movement they can accomplish while doing so, it will impress in a whole different way than the different-sized teams in which the men flip the ladies around with ease. Also, she has strong abs like Weaver & the lift that showed that off last season was fab.

Also, someone needs to burn that outfit they have him wearing for the Fever exhibition. (Actually, they should just burn the program, but particularly his outfit).
 
I actually think Christina and Anthony could benefit from doing more low to the ground lifts. Like the stationary lift that Madi and Zach last used in their Janet RD would be good for them

I disagree. I think Anthony has the potential to grow into more than Ivan ever did. He just needs more confidence, which may come now that his ankle is better and he can focus on learning better skating skills, partnering, etc. Both he and Christina have a lot of room to grow, imo. It’s what makes them interesting to me now.

ETA: Just remembered in that interview he did from Sheffield, Scott was asked what he it was like to work with students who grew up as fans of him and Tessa. He said it was challenging, because they want to be like VM, and he wants them to understand that they would be even better if they are themselves. So I am confident that C/P’s team is going to focus on helping C/P figure out who they are as time goes on.

What Ivan are we talking about? Ivan Bukin? (If so, I guess what’s interesting is that I have no particular feel for his on-ice persona. I have a impression of Stepanova, but not really of him.)

I could see low lifts working well for both G/P and C/P.

I mean I do have to point out that C/P already have a program this season where Anthony(and Christina!) are getting to have fun out there in the way I presume you mean. He's a much flashier/showman kind of skater than Scott, yes, although I actually did think their FD was choreographed in a way to try to channel that in a different way, their Junior Blues SD was always one of my favorites. And Christina is great in this style and their connection has improved to sell it, at least for me. Given that the ISU is really pushing for fun upbeat RDs from now into the conceivable future, swapping around FD styles is really the best way to push yourself. Although I also think C/P really shine with intensity and drama, their tango was also another favorite of mine, and I see some of that intensity in their FD this season.

I also agree that Green/Parsons have different strengths than most of the other teams, and can use their similarities to great effect. Guignard/Fabbri have also had some great lifts for inspiration. G/Pa gelled quickly because they were raised in the same style.
 
My issue with C/P is I don’t find Christina to be a genuine performer. Her facial expressions feel forced to me and not organic. Her skating skills may have improved, but it’s the performance aspect that still puts me off.

Different strokes I guess because I find her completely natural as a performer unlike many other skaters pulling O-Face ad nauseum.
 
The italians are clearly in trouble for worlds the judges seem to like the danadians programs more they have to hope for a mistake which the danadians are prone too.
