Tarasova/Morozov Cheer Thread

You’re correct in the nhk dates being Nov 12-14.

Warsaw Cup is the weekend after.

I think they’re going for the strategy Moskvina used years ago for Elena Bechke to compete frequently to get over the fear of competing that causes headcase issues.

Hence the early participation in Cranberry? It makes sense.

A coach has to be a psychologist to some extent, with or without formal training. Tamara has the formal training and the natural ability. Her skaters are very lucky.

I am sure Eteri has a good understanding of her skaters. Otherwise we wouldn't see so many of her skaters doing well in competitions. The important thing is T/M appear happy.

Some great pics on IG

I knew they were not going to skate clean. She fell on the sbs 3t Again! She had landed it during the warmup. She really needs a hypnotist.

They looked so nervous, they couldn't smile even during the introductions. It really helps to smile, even force a smile because it relaxes you.

Now they are 3 points behind M/G, and have just 1 point lead over the Japanese. I had mentally prepared myself for this. I don't expect anything better tomorrow. This has been the pattern. Eteri was not happy in the K/C.

They’d easily have the lead if she had d fallen and they did have the highest PCS.

I think a lot about what Orser says about time after a coaching change. I wish they’d made this move a couple of years ago.

I still blame Mozer for making Evgenia a head case.

Whatever happened cannot be changed. I want them to continue after the 2022 Olympics and establish themselves as a great pair instead of a headcase that couldn't realize their potential.

Morozov is already 29, there are russian juniors piling in tech difficulty coming into senior ranks every year.

I feel sad because they had a bad day. Did they put too much pressure on themselves? When they landed the sbs 3sal, I was slightly relieved, immediately they doubled the 3t combo. What shocked me was that she missed both throws. Fortunately there was no fall. I felt that overall they were not into the performance. Too worried? Too much pressure? They are capable of so much more. They are the most beautiful pair today. May be I will try to send them a message of encouragement on IG.

On the positive side, they made the GPF, most probably as a number three seed, which is not bad at all. However, they really need to feel happy when they skate. They looked miserable in both programs and that worries me. A psychologist is badly needed, probably for both of them.

For now, I am going to focus on the positives and send them some good thoughts. like congratulations on making the GPF. It is better to make those mistakes at NHK than at their nationals, or at the Olympics. Hopefully this will be a lesson That can help them.

I’m sad for them too.

I think they’ve let M/G get in their heads. T/M want this so much that I think they want it too much, and then you add in this other thing…. So many people are also saying they can’t win, which I’m sure doesn’t help. I think they skate with a lot of mental burden. That makes me sad because they really are the most gorgeous of all the pairs right now.

At least unlike 2 years ago, they’ll make the GPF. There’s also Warsaw coming up.

I really just wish this quad hadn’t been such an unstable mess for them. They haven’t been in any one coaching situation to have settled in at all.

ITA that they have let M/G get into their heads. They did a similar thing at Finlandia. Someone needs to get them out of that mindset.

Couple years ago they were talking of wanting to be competitive against S/H. Last year M/G beat S/H. Now they have to worry about both pairs. They need to just skate for themselves. They are beautiful skaters and they must remember that.

I’m sure getting out of that mindset is easier said than done.

I still think that in a hypothetical event in which all of those 3 teams went clean, t/m would be the ones to win the gold.

I wish they could get a do-over for this quad without all the coaching/training situation insanity.

I don't know if you can open this link, but I posted a message for them on Facebook. It is a fan page.

ETA- Someone had posted a message of congratulations on their silver medal at NHK. I too posted a congratulatory message and told them how beautiful they are as a pair. I think they need to hear positive things, though I have no idea if they read social media or not.

I scrolled down further and found more fans congratulate them on making the GPF. There are some beautiful photos. Take a look. We need to send them positive vibes. They will receive them, even if they don't read social media.

Some positive comments by the British skater. The translation is funny (screwdriver for triple twist) but it feels good to know that knowledgeable people appreciate their quality.

T/M photo with their silver medals at NHK and some nice comments from fans.

Vladimir looks upset but Zhenya is smiling.

I hope they can put the disappointment behind them and look forward to the next opportunity. Warsaw cup, then GPF.

Someone elsewhere on the internet pointed out that their two worst competitions of the season where the events they had to face M/G at. They have got to somehow get past this.

I wonder if the idea that they have a mental block is becoming some kind of self-fulfilling prophecy? Maybe worrying too much about their mental state is actually inhibiting them from resolving things. Maybe they should just approach it as a technical issue. They keep having problems on the jumps, so what is causing the problems technically. If they are landing them in practice and warm-up but not in competition, is there something they are doing differently in competition, like a tiny bad habit they are falling into without realizing it.

They may be tightening up in competitions. That affects the muscles. They may need to relax a bit. Even a forced smile can relax a person.

When I was competing in Public speaking, the first thing I used to do was smile at the audience. It relaxed me and them too. When T/M are being introduced, it is their opportunity to smile and let those muscles relax. Later when they start, they need to be focused on each other.

Nice comments by Evgenia and Vladimir about each other here.
(Maybe I'm missing something, but I can only link this post from the Instagram website while I can only get a translation from the app. So open this in the app if you aren't a Russian speaker!)
