When Yagudin was condemning Jason Brown I remember thinking just shut the F up. And I feel the same way here. I can't believe this is still a thing in 2021.

It's just a stellar programme. Problems happen when he starts to talk.....
 
Much sharper and more attack than Finlandia, they are getting their competitive mojo back. One wish would be for a different lift in the RD. Don't know if they can make such a big change now but this one does not fit the mood. Liked the shorter dress too. If we are being picky, Gaby should coordinate better her nail polish, wrong shade of red here.

J’admire la façon dont Gabriella et Guillaume améliorent constamment chaque petit détail.
-> Masters : Guillaume a un léger déséquilibre dans la pose finale.
-> trophée Finlandia : il assure avec une usine de patinage marquée et volontaire
-> GP Italia : le mouvement est naturel précis, sans heurts ni exagération

I have more of a gripe with the lift in the FD ...

Why oh why do I feel like I'm nitpicking at lot of their choices this season? I think white is in danger of being "swallowed" by the ice (thank God for the sparkles though) and red, by contrast, will put him squarely in the forefront, which the choreography already does at times (another gripe from me: at the beginning, after they start gliding, there is a beautiful slide where Gui is in the front and Gabi behind him ... they should space it better, so that we can see Gabi a bit more).

On the sunny side of things: I really like their RD and I'm sure it will only get better as the season progresses!

Agree. Regarding this year's FD, there're some things I don't quite understand, the costumes choice being one of them. I don't want to sound unsupportive or to be criticising while there're parts of the free dance that are mesmerising and we haven't even seen it properly since Finlandia... so hopefully, things will be smoothed/sorted out during the first half of the season. :)
 
I was impressed with the amount of changes and additions they've put in since Finlandia for the RD. A lot of them were bonuses and make real sense. To nitpick, I feel that in the MB section Guillaume's arm choreo feels a little repetitive and pro forma. Since the music is slower, and Waacking is not always a "fast" dance, they could have done it in a different way, though I recognize the difficulty of squeezing in slower Waacking movements amidst the different holds.
 
Congrats on their first GP medal. They did great but please ditch the red jersey. No need to pay that much of a tribute to Mother China.

Congratulations! But please, please, change that red top of his. That top he had for the tango RD at Internationaux de France would be a much better choice... and maybe Gabi's nails colour was supposed to match Guillaume's new top? :D

Yeah, her dress is stunning. They should keep it and try again on his shirt.

They got better levels in the footwork here than Finlandia.
 
I didn’t notice until this showing of their FD: The Build a Home head-back kick appears towards the end of the program. And then the last shape is a variation of the 1st to 3rd Moonlight Sonata Movement transition for their 2018 FD.

I’m more and more getting the purpose of this Elegie program and it’s making me wistful.
 
I think part of being a fan is being able to also offer constructive criticism, so here it goes: I tried to get into the FD programme yesterday but couldn't. The costumes were very distracting. Gabby looked more like she was going to skate a ballroom-themed kind of dance. Nothing about that dress matched the music nor Guillaume's costume. Neither the colour, nor the style. She's all glamourous, he's all plain and in a colour that doesn't go with anything too. What's glamourous about Elegie? On the contrary, it's a flowy, mesmerizing kind of music that IMO needs free hair and a Moonlight Sonata kind of dress. I can understand not going for that so that they aren't accused of repeating themselves, but this is a step too far towards the other direction. Regarding the actual performance, the camera work was very distracting so I think we missed many angles and special moments. Still, I thought he was 100% into it while her not as much. I'm still confident that this will grow on me (and them) by the Olympics, but for the moment, I don't get any special vibes from it, which is not what I wanted to feel like at the start of the Olympic season. Also, I spotted the copying of the head-back kick from To build a home during the highlight the first time I saw this programme and was disappointed. Yes it's a nice moment, but did it have to be a repeat of another programme? I tend to get really attached to such moments and when they are copy-pasted into a different programme and music, I get very annoyed. A/P used to do that and I found it very distracting.

There, I've said it. I still love them to death, I'm just a bit :confused: at some of their choices this year.
