ETA a kinda off-topic trivia note: https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/canceled-or-cancelledFollowing the recent announcements of the French President Emmanuel Macron concerning the Covid-19, the French Federation, in agreement with Grenoble Alpes Métropole, is sad to announce the cancellation of the Internationaux de France, initially planned from November 13 to 15
What to Know
While both canceled and cancelled are acceptable for the past tense of cancel, the version with one L is more common in American English, while the version with two L's is more common in British English. American English typically only doubles the consonant when the stress is on the syllable attached to the suffix, as in remit and remitting.
No. But soccer is played outside, it seems it makes all the difference. + they can play with no audience and still earn money thanks to astronomic TV rights.Just wondering, is France canceling its soccer (football) games and other sports as well?
They play league games in Handball in France. That's indoor. Probably other indoor sports as basketball and others as well.No. But soccer is played outside, it seems it makes all the difference. + they can play with no audience and still earn money thanks to astronomic TV rights.
It's been "postponed", technically.I thought the GPF had already been cancelled.
SCI and IdF have been officially cancelled though? If they somehow have these events postponed to wait for a new GPF date, I am afraid it would be in January-March but then remember we have Worlds in Sweden in danger...It's been "postponed", technically.
Though in theory if they were somehow able to arrange having it later in the year, they could just as easily hold SCI and IdF at that point too.
Yes, they've been officially cancelled, but everybody involved in this is flying by the seats of their pants.SCI and IdF have been officially cancelled though? True, but given that we might not have a safer situation in Jan-March I highly doubt they would re-schedule anything in time for all of those events to happen. Such a horrible time.Yes, they've been officially cancelled, but everybody involved in this is flying by the seats of their pants.
I don't expect a Final to happen at this point (indeed, I'm increasingly thinking that Euros is the only ISU event in the second half of the season that has the slightest chance of happening), I'm just saying that if it did, they could just as easily revive the cancelled Grand Prix events. Indeed, that would be easier than the Final given there's less international travel involved.
They play league games in green zones, not in red zones like Grenoble. All sports events are being canceled in Grenoble. They play league games in Handball in France. That's indoor. Probably other indoor sports as basketball and others as well.

Leave it up to ANL to make lemonade out of lemons. ?Can they work around the curfew then? Do they have to skate the competitions after 9 PM? Is that why the event basically has been canceled because of the curfew that was instituted? If so just have the programs start at noon.
Anyway no sense for me crying over spilled milk. Now spilled Grey Goose on the other hand… Child…
The capital of the Alps was to host this figure skating competition for the fourth consecutive year. The FFSG has already announced that its 2021 edition will be held in Grenoble. "We are disappointed and sad to have to give up the organization of the Internationaux de France, which we were impatiently awaiting. But the health of all those who work on this type of event is a priority", regrets the president of the Federation, Nathalie Péchalat, in the same press release, highlighting those who "have worked tirelessly for this demonstration to take place".
The president of Grenoble-Alpes metropolis, Christophe Ferrari, expressed his "deep disappointment for our territory to have to give up the Internationaux de France in 2020, a sporting and artistic meeting that has become essential for 4 years in the metropolis" . The chosen one makes an appointment in 2021 for the next edition and looks forward "to a future that we all hope to be happier".

No it's not. Basically, it's been canceled because Grenoble is in a red zone, and it was impossible to comply with all the safety measures. The decision was not made by FFSG but by the regional administrative council after they had a virtual meeting. Is that why the event basically has been canceled because of the curfew that was instituted?
If only it had been so easy... And that's roughly what FFSG had done with issuing a new schedule. If so just have the programs start at noon.
