Papadakis/Cizeron #9 - People Will See Them And Cry

This thread title should add "People will see them and cry and laugh and .... streeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch"
I have a sneaky feeling they worked much more on the FD this year because the concept sounds difficult hence the RD looking rough around the edges. Last year was the opposite, the Tango was the most ready while the FD keep evolving. This might be a lesson from their Oddudua time when that FD was really nowhere to be ready at the Masters and they struggled all season long.

Guillaume was lost on the twizzles, but come on, that's the best RD they've ever done that early IMO of course. I love it. It won't compare to anything else because the others went for old fashioned things (so far), but it's so fun.

I'm officially obsessed with the one two three stretch part. Love love love the first third when all I wanted was remember my name. They completely caught me off guard with this one, so clever. And their great head movements/twist right on the beats are back, they used to do that more in their earlier career.

Little snippet of their FD here on Tout le sport. It works if you have a VPN. There is one lift, oh my,just :swoon: According to Romain they change all their elements even the spin which we do see and yes it is different. Guillaume also explains how they tried to build the FD differently this time. Instead of going for a more traditional slow fast slow or slow fast. They are going by smaller chapters so I guess it means something non linear. Can't wait.

ETA: small article in l'équipe and we get to know why it looked rough around the edges according to Romain they usually roll out the programs at least three weeks before the first competition, here they only trained it for 10 days. He also mentioned they were nervous and indeed there were indeed imperfections.

I love this RD. I love how they went with the cheese! I agree, it needs some smoothing out that will come with mileage, but just WOW. No other team is giving us this. Definitely the standout RD of the season! :cheer2:

I love it too. According to Paul Peret, a French journalist, Haguenauer told him the RD is currently only about 20-30% of its potential. Peret told it on Twitter but for some reason I can’t link the discussion.

I can't see it. Help, just help :(

I was skeptical about the Fame choice (I'm too young for 80 references sorry) but they convinced me with that RD ! It really suits them, it is an awesome choice.

I am also skeptical about the FD music choice so I hope once again to be proven wrong. But one thing I want, on a more shallow note, is that Gabriella remains a brunette this season ! She looks great with darker hair.

OMG that new RD is all kinds of f*cking awesome. Loved loved loved it. Pointed fingers and hip shakes. Not taking it at all seriously but they are putting it out there to their competitors that they mean business. They hit the nuances everywhere. Particularly the small lift on "Highhhhhhh" right with the phrasing of that word. You could not ask for better. And FU to the naysayers who said they had no variety.

I think the thing I love most is the entry to the pattern hard on the beat after the voice in the soundtrack calls 'Begin!' - it's so much in the spirit of the music, that we're gonna show you exactly what we can do energy, and it really drives the whole piece forward strongly from the outset.

There's the stereotypical idea of Broadway/musical theatre, and then there's what Broadway dancers actually do in their profession, and this is closer to the latter than the former (which is where a lot of the dances I've seen so far this year have gone - perfectly valid choice and many are doing it very well, but it does mean they start to blur together a bit after a while).

Oh I loved that "Highhh" decorative lift too as soon as I saw it. Perfect timing and great position by Gabi. Also those arms-reaching-out on "faaame". Like the one right after the twizzles.

I'm lost for worlds in every possible way. I like musicals on screen but so far I

Me too. I thought I would need more time to get used to this rhythm dance but apparently not. :D I guess they need more time to feel more comfortable with it and, imo, not to lose the energy they have at the beginning of the dance, but so far it looks good. :)
Only one thing - I do miss Gabi's blonde hair. :D

But wait a minute - do we know the music for the free dance?

For some reason, their dance reminded me of this compilation.

All kidding aside, P & C have done it again. I wonder if they will break 90 points this season?

Oh dear I was a Jazzercizer in that period! Please note that we didn’t wear any shoes for high impact aerobics then.

The more I watch the more I enjoy.

Okay here is the list of the G&P RD chorey moves
  • Spatula hands with straight arm windmill chorey
  • Bend over showing firm tight buttocks (thankfully Guillaume faces the judges)
  • Shimmery shoulders
  • Twizzley arms above head
  • Bouncy lunge
  • Heads up BEGIN!!!!
  • Pointy fingers
  • Move your body side to side
  • Hands on hips
  • Move your head around
  • Kick up STRETCH!!!!
  • Guillaume does sexy twizzle with arms above head
  • Sexy lunge together on bent knee
  • Sexy twizzle in unison with arms sliding down from top of head to shoulder while both doing self breast examination
  • A moon walk step
  • Arms up with pointy fingers on second twizzle
  • Raise arm and grab the air
  • HIGHHHHHHHHH!!!! Lift
  • Reach forward to the sky to make offering to skating gods
  • Spinny rotational lift
  • Finishing looking like they just finished an aerobics class
The only thing that would make this better is if halfway through the program they both brought out towels to dry themselves off at the end (sexily of course).

yes, i feel this. i love the lightness and fun of this piece and worry that the fd may be too dramatic or over-thought. but, they've made everything else work before so i have some hope my worries are for nothing!

Woo this is a Twitter morning for me ?.
Anyway, I don't know if it has been shared already but someone on twitter translated a part of the podcast Gabi did with Championnes du monde. It's more a summary of her thoughts than a litteral translation but it's interesting for those who don't speak French :

Bear in mind that it's not as nuanced and precise as her interview but it's a good effort.

Their RD is a lot of fun! I already love it. Especially the beginning is so cool. I can`t wait to see how much they are going to improve it throughout the season.
