Glamour Puss thread: Sephora, I wish I could quit you...

Hold on here a minute @skategal. Are you telling me your husband goes and shops for makeup for you??

Not normally.

This was a special circumstance because it’s my favourite and I couldn’t get it anywhere else except for the country it is manucfactured in.

I took a photo of my old one, sent it to him and told him to go to the drugstore in Copenhagen and find it.

He said the store staff were really impressed that he didn’t need any help. Lol!

He will drive me to Ulta when we visit the USA though and then find something else to do for half an hour while I shop. :D

I need néw mascara and skin care products. I'm afraid if I go to Ulta or Sephora I'll not leave with less than $150 in merchandise.

Don't bother going for high-end mascara.

There are so many excellent drugstore/affordable options.

Just ask in here and we can recommend some.

Good skincare, on the other hand, is worth paying for.

If you guys like the Urban Decay liquid eyeliner, they have discontinued it. :wuzrobbed. I went on their website and ordered a couple colors, but most of them are gone. It was the only liquid liner I could do and not wind up with it all over my face.

Life is so cruel. :drama:

I feel your pain. MAC lipintensity lipstick is the only lipstick that I have ever used in my long lifetime, that actually stays on & doesn't dry out my lips.

They have just discontinued it.

ITA!

I love Essence brand mascara, "False Lashes" which costs about $6.00. It is made in Italy. I avoid American made mascara brands because they are less stringent in their "cleanliness".

I also like Essence eyelash primer as well.

Makeup Geek is now at selected Targets in the US. It looks like they’ve picked the ones in mid/upper income areas.

I so need to go to Target again. I miss it so much. :(

We may be going to Florida this Fall.

Cross fingers.....

My dilemma now is that I need to buy skincare at the upcoming Sephora sale (I am out of a bunch of stuff) but I want to buy makeup.

Decisions....decisions.... :shuffle:

So VIB Rouge starts today, so days ago I did a very careful shop and put my cart together so I'd be ready. Login in this morning, and surprise surprise the two very expensive skin care items I had set aside are no longer in my cart, and are now showing "out of stock" on the site. Sure, it's entirely possible that others had the same idea I did and they really are sold out, or have they temporarily done this so as not to take the 20% hit on those products? I couldn't even go to "2" on my favourite Clinique eye makeup remover.

Between that and the fact that their "rewards" have sucked for pretty much the past year or more - I couldn't give my points away if I tried - I don't know.

Pretty sure that it’s on purpose.

Sephora is known to do this. People online say it happens every sale.

The second the sale is over it will magically be back in stock.

It sucks.

Also, I am hating the rewards bazaar lately. I have 1300 rewards points that I can’t use because they bring in such a small selection of rewards that everything is always gone. Plus what they offer is not that great to start with. :wall:

Same thing happened to me. I had a basket ready to go and today one of the items is out of stock.

How long is VIB Rouge?

Not long ago they had a reward that allowed you to convert points to cash. I didn't do it, then went back and it was gone. Rest assured I'm doing it if they ever do that again, and applying it directly to the expensive skincare.

So annoying, sorta glad I'm not alone on this, but at the same time sorry you other gals are frustrated by this too :(

That would be amazing. Please post, if you see it again or anyone else!
Yes, super annoying about your items being out of stock

Yes you could convert points to a gift card.

I think it was only available to Rouge tier.

But if I ever see it for VIB I would get it in a heartbeat.

I didn`t realize Kaja was co-developed by Sephora.

There aren`t a ton of products online yet (but they add more all the time.)

I hear the eyeshadow stacks are nice and I`ve had my eye on a couple of them but haven`t purchased yet.

Does anyone think they pull a similar trick in stores? Stash away things during the sale?

I had my heart set on these two creams, had talked myself into them on the condition they were 20% off :(

I don’t know but it wouldn’t surprise me.

The thing I find with my local stores is that they don’t have near the inventory that they have online.

Anything that’s even a tiny bit exclusive or special is like it isn’t there or sold out immediately.

Just the run of the mill stuff usually.

I’m almost always disappointed when I go there in person.

I can't even imagine the theft in a store like Sephora, with so many small items, always so crowded, people always having the products in their hands already. Surprises me that the expensive stuff is just sitting out there too. I figure they've got heavy security, but still.

Anyway, I'll see where the weekend takes me, maybe I can still get in on this, but I'm not going to hold my breath either.

And in the end, do I really need this stuff? Probably not.:shuffle:

I've been shopping at Ulta more lately, and I realize I lost my VIB Rouge status :drama: I must wait until May 2 to shop the sale.

I've been wanting some Olaplex so I think I'll get that.

I've been at Ulta more frequently too (cash rewards!) and I'm down to just regular Beauty Insider. Hmph. But that's fine; Ulta regularly has 20% off sales. (I just bought a bunch of MAC products during the most recent one.) But Sephora does have Huda products, so I will stock up on my foundation and primer and probably not redeem any of my 1300 points because, as others have said, nothing has been that interesting.

The Sephora near my office doesn't carry Estee Lauder foundation nor Tarte Shape Tape; the Ulta down the street carries both, so I end up doing all my beauty shopping there.

How does the Stila eyeliner compare to Kat Von D? I need a new one, and I've heard great things about the Stila one (plus it has the nice side benefit of not supporting anti vaxer Kat Von D, no matter how great her eyeliner is).

I am quite glad I never tried KvD make up, so no loss for me. I have some serious issues on this woman's stances and I'm not supporting anything related to her.

Example A of why most corporate leaders stay out of controversial issues!

I’m no longer even a VIB but will order more Dr Gross pads from the hospital if I remember. Unless they’re “sold out.”

We’ll remind you!
I need Tan Luxe The Butter. It better be in stock next week. And I need summer weight moisturizer with SPF. Makeup... not so much.

I feel like you folks will appreciate this story. My husband was complaining about how dry his face is. He has a dirty job and washes it often. I asked what moisturizer he was using. He said none, because his shaving cream said it was moisturizing on the label :wall: I gave him some of mine to try and he kept talking about how nice it felt  He said no one teaches boys how to take care of their skin, which is true. I’m not sure why moisturizer on his face was such a leap when he’s fine with moisturizer anywhere else but his mind is now blown and he’s much more okay with the money I spend on skin care :)
