How would Scimeca Knierim/Knierim rank if they could land side by side jumps?

Maybe I'm dazzled by their throw triple twists, but except for their perpetual falls on side by side jumps, Scimeca Knierim/Knierim always look so good to me.

But I am weak on the subtleties of pairs skating, so I was wondering if they cleaned up those triple jumps, would they be in the hunt for world medals?

Jumps aren't the only issue they have, but it would definitely move them up. But they have issues with the spins don't they? And basic skating wise, my impression is they aren't as strong as the top teams.

Yeah, I think they would be world medalists, although maybe not champions, with clean SBS jumps. They'd be more like Duhamel and Radford.

If Four Continents 2016 was any indication, I think the judges would go with them if clean, at least on par with Vanessa/Morgan, and likely ahead of Nicole/Matteo, Kirsten/Michael and Natalia/Sasha (IMO).

Big If on the "clean" part, though.

You mean two times world champions and Olympic medalists?

Other than the quad twist, which SK&K do very well, I don't see greatness in their pairs skating. D&R were not great pairs skaters either but they pushed the envelope technically by doing two quad throws and sbs 3 Lutzes fairly consistently. They were trend setters.

What is missing in SK&K's skating is finesse. Positions, Extensions, great unison, complex choreography executed at high speed. It is more than landing sbs jumps, although judges are not caring that much about finesse these days. So a top 5 finish is easily within their grasp.

Unless they have D&R type technical difficulty, I don't see them on the podium at the world level (unless of course we have a competition where everyone is falling and they skate clean). My feeling is that C&L will surpass them at the US nationals this year due to their technical consistency.

How did I miss this thread??

Well 3 - 4 yrs ago when they sorta -ish were landing their jumps they punched a ticket right to the Grand Prix final. So I still imagine that if they could get their jumps under control they would be top 6/7 in the world. Heck even just last week when they boffed every single jump element in all of their programs they still landed on the podium in Japan because of how strong their other elements are!

In summary .... amazing twist and lifts and throws and combo spin. But their jumps and SBS spins are not world class

To clarify, I meant they'd skate more like D&R, I do know D&R were World Champions twice.

What has gotten into people? I don't think Alexa and Chris skate anything at all like Meagan and Eric. Whatever type of Kool-Aid you're drinking save some for me for Thanksgiving night ??

Complete opposites. Knierims have amazing twist, throws, combo spin. D & R not so much.

D & R amazing SBS spins and 3 lutzes. Knierims not so much.

Knierims love songs central. D & R not a chance.

Totally different vibes for each pair.

They are good but apart from their twist there isnt anything that amazing. Still the pairs field is so weak now with the teams who are retired/taking a break/split, they would probably be top 5 ATM in this hypothetical, this likely never to happen hypothetical.

Yes D&R did more tech. difficulty than any pair in the world. Based on that alone you cant compare the Knierims, even if D&R are probably even sloppier and more unpolished.
