When he was in Vancouver, Patrick spoke to CBC's Ian Hanomansing about his retirement plans as they strolled along Kitsilano Beach (video was posted on April 13): http://www.cbc.ca/news/thenational/...ent-from-competitive-figure-skating-1.4620353

More highlights are scheduled to be aired tonight on CBC's The National nightly newscast: https://www.instagram.com/p/BhpMzfgFiNQ/?taken-by=cbcian
The Patrick segment starts around the 37-minute mark: http://www.cbc.ca/news/the-national-for-april-16-2018-1.4622716

I spent yesterday with a retrospective, reviewing his skates from 2007 to 2009. Today will be 2010 onwards. For me one of the highlights of those years was his Tango de Exilados. It really showed his facility with the blade. Once he went to David Wilson his blade work had a sweetness but was less in your face.
Was surprised that he didnt thank Lori considering she choreographed for him from a very younger age until 2011. The split must have been acrimonious.

I browsed through the Rocker Skating posts today. While others moved forward with jumps Chan continued to refine his skating skills. I believe it was the TEB 2013 skates that posted his long-lived world record. Yet the 2017/2018 skates are even more beautiful. I particularly like the little up/down hops. Adds lightness to the program. Do they have a name?

I also wished Patrick had mentioned Lori, but I think there's no hard feelings. IIRC, once PJ asked him to use one word to describe each person who had helped him, he used the word "nourishing" for Lori. Perhaps there were too many names to mention in a short speech?

Well Patrick, I cannot tell you how much joy you brought me over the years.

I remember the first time I saw him live, when he was still an unknown, even in Canada; we were at a practice session, and upon seeing his speed and him throwing his entire body into the deepest edges I have ever seen, my exact words were "Who in the hell is THAT?".

Thank you Patrick. :)

When nine-year-old Aidan Young heard he could train with figure skating Olympian Patrick Chan, he jumped at the idea. Literally.
“My favourite part of the day was the jumping; I just like going up into the air,” he said of training with the Olympian on Saturday.
“I learned how to loop jump, which I like. I would just spin into a backspin and then jump across the ice, which was real fun.”
Aidan was one of the 86 developing figure skaters who participated in the third annual Skate with a Champion event held at Colchester Legion Stadium Saturday.
This year’s event, hosted by the Truro Figure Skating Club, saw world-champion figure skater and Olympic gold medalist Chan step into the role of trainer, something he looks forward to doing since announcing his retirement from competition early last week.
“This was my first seminar since the Olympics,” said Chan.

Jeff Buttle just tweeted a link to this new article by speed skater Anastasia Bucsis, which has a shout-out to Patrick Chan and a photo of her and friends Chan, Scott Moir, and Denny Morrison:

I have independent and confident women like Clara Hughes, Cindy Klassen, and Kristina Groves to guide me through stormy waters. I am blessed to have the Caroline Ouellettes, the Patrick Chans, the Mark Tewksburys, and the Brian Burkes of the world — people who have pulled me aside, hugged me hard, and reaffirmed that “small, bigoted minds never succeed.” All of these people came into my life because of sport.

In the above video, he thanked Lori: "I'm going to say thank you to David Wilson, Lori Nichol, and all the choreographers that come from Canada. Lori Nichol made me grow up, and mature, and become the skater I'm."

@Emdee, would you like to start a new thread for fans of Patrick who'd like to keep following his post-retirement activities?

He currently is teaching at the camp in Vaujany, France (4 picturesque photos): https://www.instagram.com/p/BlFlAF7hHAP/?taken-by=pchan31

He is such a talent! Best skating skills ever and amazing artist I ry. His skating flows with the music, and his choreography is incredible. I wish he would still compete, I don't even care if he can win or not. However the new rules with GOE being emphasized would help him a lot. Maybe not against Hanyu at his best, but definitely against Chen and all the other quadsters. Now the ISU just need to find a way for PCS to be scored properly again with it.

I am so mad that I missed this!!! I thought someone indicated that it was postponed. Does anyone know if it will re-air during the holidays????

You did not miss it as it was not aired. Hopefully we will receive news as to when they will re-schedule it. It would help the cause if fans indicated to CTV execs that they want to see it sooner rather than later...
