Before the last group, this is the result I was hoping for!!! So happy, T/M drop off podium. They should be behind James/Cipres too with that awful piece of shit fp. It was wrong music, choreo, costume and totally not the right style.

Savchenko/Massot!!! Finally, finally Aliona gets what she's deserved for so long! Even S/H's fp is not exactly right for them. And it is indeed pressure to skate after a team sets a world record. The skate order turned out to be great for S/M. So very happy. J/C at least in the top five. If Vanessa had landed the quad, maybe they had a chance for 3rd or 4th. They did okay. I'm happy with the podium though. It's great!

I don't normally follow pairs skating but I have watched her at the last two Olys and I'm so happy she finally has her gold!! Their skate was amazing....so well deserved! Love how supportive the top three teams were to each other; love Sui/Han as well and hope they can continue on to Beijing in 2022.

at least, since i won't be following ice dance anymore after v/m retires, i'll have the pairs discipline to look forward to. will continue to follow aliona and bruno (if aliona does not retire), as well as s/h and r/k (the rookie north korean team. such a charming team!)

Wow, wow, wow! What an Olympic moment and what a historic victory! Bravo, Bruno! Bravissima, Goddess Aliona!I was afraid that S/H would end up higher due to their SP margin, but these 0.43 points brought justice to this world!
I admit I was close to tears during their final pose. Such a sublime program!
S/H were also great overall, a well-deserved silver
T/M just need more experience and more seasoned competitive nerves, but I'm sure it's a matter of time

Like, all the pieces fell together. Also, non famous coach... innovation in the choreography. Bruno is the male Oksana Kozokova. Aliona is arguably the best ladies pair skater since gordeeva. A year ago they were trying wacky elements. This year their throws were amazing. Their mismatch elements... gone.

This was truly an Olympic moment. She’s an icon.


All 3 pairs gave performances worthy of the moment. The other two pairs supporting Aliona and Bruno and congratulating them was the best in sportsman like conduct.

Omg. I have to be at the gym in less than 6 hours and i cannot sleep.

Aljona is a skating genius. To think how she plucked Bruno out of obscurity, forced him to learn German at gunpoint (surely that happened after the first two fails) and assembled a team of coaches and choreographers who could make them not just excellent but breathtaking in less than three years... it's like a Hollywood fantasy.

One of the happiest, most memorable nights of my skating fan life.

Congratulations, Aljona and Bruno, your coaches and choreographers, your partners and families, Germany, and all your fans across the globe!

Perfection under such pressure! That is where the five Olympics came in. Aljona knew exactly what was possible and what was needed and she willed them to do it.

Actually, I could see that making her a new Moskvina if she hasn't already started planning for 2022.

I'm so happy for her and for him of course. But Aljona, what a model of perseverance, what an athlete and I believe she became an artist this last quad and that's what gave her this gold. When they started skating I could see it in their eyes and body language, they were going for creating a special moment to remember not for the medal. She's just inspirational.
