Survivor Season 35 Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers starts 9/27/17

The only flaw in the plan was I don't understand why they took out JP instead of either Ryan and his idol or Chrissy and her brain that thinks of every possibility. JP might be a minor immunity threat but I still think that's a lesser worry.

Devon's secret agent part of the plan was indeed inspiring. I was wondering how a mellow surfer dude ended up on the Hustler tribe, but I'm beginning to see it now.

We'll never know with the editing to build maximum suspense, which I think was done brilliantly in this double episode, but I feel like Chrissy and Ryan are more malleable now that they are on the outs and could be used further for numbers in the final maneuverings between the strongest players. JP seemed a bit of a stick in the mud who couldn't adapt to the fluidity of the modern game of Survivor and would just be in the way.
 
And JP turned out to be not that big of a challenge threat after all. At this point, Lauren is the bigger threat in that regard.

In addition to the two surprises already mentioned - JP over Ryan or Chrissy and wow, Devon has game! - I was :confused: at Devon, Ben and Lauren sitting out immunity when they had just had a huge meal from the reward challenge. Sure, the ruse was that Chrissy, Ryan and JP thought they were all in a solid alliance, but really?
 
It seems that a lot of people were rooting for people who are now gone - makes me wonder how the fan favourite vote will go. Thoughts?
 
Guess it depends on who's voting - TV only viewers for sure, but how many of them bother to go to the website and vote multiple times?

I too am wondering why Ryan or Chrissie were not voted out over JP. But this above makes sense.
Devon was great - but yes, don't get too cocky.
I keep reading that people don't like this season. I find I enjoy watching the show, then the next week when it is on again, I have trouble remembering what happened. Even though I am enjoying this season, I am thinking I will not remember it.
Lauren - she is playing! Makes me think about the edit she is getting. I do like how she handled that reward and discussion. Very logical.
Glad Joe is gone. Amusing how Joe & Mike think they were in an alliance.
And Devon's idea to have Ben 'act'. I have seen every season of Survivor, and I am pretty sure we have not see this much acting/having a mole type of person in another alliance. Now that I see it, why wasn't it done sooner?
I like how they are appreciating how it is going down and entertaining for us. But Ben - big target.
Someone please feed Ryan. He is so skinny, I can not look at him.

Ryan/Chrissie alliance - interesting to think about - all because she was sick after the first challenge and Ryan gave her the advantage. Would they have aligned otherwise? I always love that a moment like that impacts the trajectory of the game.

Also I do like how there was actual discussions shown that one player said to another - you never talked to me before, but now you do. These type of conversations intrigue me.
 
Fan favorite - not sure.
I could see Ben - and that would be nice.
Depending on the rest happens - Lauren?
I might have thought Ryan earlier on, but he is coming across sneaky which many might not like.
Interesting to think about - as there are a lot of players.

I thought the same; it's never good to show that much confidence. Good on Ashley for not just playing but winning, even though I was rooting for Dr. Mike (against the odds) just so he could win that one immunity challenge.

And it played out in such a Survivor way--oooh, our plan is working perfectly because Ben is a really good actor. We must get rid of him at once! :lol:
 
I haven't watched too closely lately, I was just assuming. Big Brother still does it.
 
I think Devon is actually setting himself up with the best run to the end of all of them, which I didn't think he had in him :lol:

He has Ashley by his side; Ashley, Lauren, and Ben as the original alliance, and then if he wants to switch things up at any point (which he was already considering last night), he can probably pull Ryan back into something which I'm sure he and Chrissy would be more than willing to jump on.

But with 7 people left, it would be wise for Devon's game if he along with Ashley, Chrissy, and Ryan pulled a fast one on Ben and got rid of him. Then if those 4 stuck together, Lauren's extra vote really doesn't matter for the rest of the game. BUT they need to be really sneaky about the plan because if Lauren does play her extra vote next time, there could be a potential 4-4 split.

If that doesn't happen, I do think Ben will be seen as way too big of a target, even by Lauren, and he will be gone very soon. Lauren is playing hard but I see that melting down spectacularly for her, too.

Something about the editing makes me think Chrissy is also going to make the Finals but not win (maybe not even receive one vote).

I'm gonna guess it ends up Devon, Ryan, and Chrissy in the finals.
 
I just watched the latest episode online and am a bit confused about the editing. Lauren wins immunity but I don't see a tribal council that she goes to, just a reward challenge. Next I see her giving back her immunity as a new challenge is to start. Did I miss something?
 
Good comments @Tony Wheeler - just read one of Joe's post interviews and he said that Devon has been playing all along and that they often talked strategy. In Cole's post interviews he says several times that Devon told him that day he was going, which he appreciated, although he also thought it might just be jury management - which now that we are seeing Devon's game, probably was. Haven't seen much evidence of jury management from the others, but of course there's a lot we're not seeing as all the evictees are describing in their post interviews.

When I saw Ben try to take charge of the new alliance that Lauren formed, I knew he could be in trouble too. Doesn't seem to be much of a challenge beast, but he's been playing very hard and there's a perception that he's had a lot of control, plus the whole backstory makes him not someone you want to be next to at the end.

Lauren's a little too business like, and now that she's showing herself to be a challenge contender (two in a row and then the audacity to sit out immunity in favour of chocolate? Hello target on your butt!), she could be gone as soon as her extra vote isn't useful to someone.

Agree the edit is setting up Chrissy's story, and I think in the end her controlling and some of the stuff that offended the jury (lies that didn't seem game related, swearing on her children while she was lying) will get her in trouble. As may Ryan's double dealing.

I kinda see Ashley at the end though - she's got no case for the jury, so a good goat.
 
I 100% agree with Tony Wheeler, and that's why I think it made some sense to keep Ryan and Chrissy around rather than JP, who just wouldn't be able to follow along with the twists and turns. Devon is the most likely beneficiary because his low-key slacker demeanor keeps him from being the target that Ben and to some extent Lauren are making themselves. I would be completely satisfied with that final three and the inevitable Devon win, which would likely be unanimous against that competition.

Yes. Lauren won immunity last week and then the reward in the first part of last night's episode.
 
I usually don't bother, but this season I've been reading a lot of exit interviews, as well as tracking a little on social media. We all know that what we see on the show is only a small part of the story, and it's really evident when you read these interviews. Obviously Survivor must be sanctioning it, maybe because they know they can't cram it all into 43 minutes per week, or maybe they think it will somehow tie up in the end.

Either way, this exit interview of Joe's is a very interesting read.
 
What a mess. Ben always seems to be hiding in shadows and it worked to his advantage today by overhearing enough and then the awkward silent treatment by all three members of his ‘alliance’ but they still had a golden chance to get rid of him in the event that Lauren stayed calm during tribal. But she really did get sloppy and in the process lost two huge advantages in a matter of minutes.

Somehow Devon continues to fly under the rafar. He must be extremely liked by everyone because nothing is ever pinned on him and he’s never even brought up as an option to vote out or even as a target (or we don’t see it).

Now I’m thinking Chrissy is getting an extremely favorable edit and she may very well win the whole thing. Little clips of her when they aren’t actually needed, etc. and she’s willing to make the moves.

I’m still guessing for a Chrissy, Ryan, and Devon final. Ryan and Devon can get back together quietly and Ryan and Chrissy have always been together. She knows Ashley is a threat and if they pull Ben to get her out, I can’t see him making it past 4th once the dirty work is done.
 
So many 'what the hell's'. Why the hell did Lauren go "oh look here's the Idol"!. I would have picked that thing up and shoved it down my pants, read it later, got the second half, and no one would have known a thing about it! Let the other guys keep looking for it! Who cares! And why the hell did she give half of it to Mike!!! And why didn't she even bring her Extra Vote with her to Tribal!!! Not that it would have mattered since Ben was SMART and never told anyone about his real Idol. I don't understand why these people tell everyone about finding Idols and Clues and whatever. Spare me the "look trust me I told you about this" angle because no one ever keeps that trust anyone, why would you trust them?? Stoopid! :p

:blah: The Loved Ones episode. Gag I hate that. But what a lame-assed game they played! Pull a rock out of a bag?? Seriously? I can understand they can't do anything strenuous or too physical with the Loved Ones since usually there are some older and, well, unfit people. But could they at least actually DO something? A puzzle? A maze? Something more challenging than Pull a Rock Outta a Bag? Dumb. :p

So now at this point, there are currently no Idols and no Advantages in play? Right?

Absolutely agree Lauren got sloppy, which is very surprising. I guess it's possible she did have the advantage with her and was faking it, but sharing her idol info was just plain stupid. Her lack of finesse picking up that shell was also odd to me.

However, WTF Mike throwing the shell in the fire? Was he that confident that he was willing to blow off Lauren, Devon and Ashley? I like the guy, but that was a showboat move, not cool.

As for Ben, he just made Cole look like someone who can keep secrets! Yes, he kept his own secret, but that makes it worse - he blabbed everyone else's secrets all over camp, and now I'd be surprised if he got a single jury vote. Had he just quietly had that idol it would have been a classic outplay move, but as it was, it was just douchy.

Totally agree that Devon is emerging as the potential winner, and at this point, I'd be fine with that. Even though his most recent alliance has fallen apart, he still has Ryan in his back pocket, Ben has lost everyone's trust, Ashley has proven herself a challenge threat, Chrissy still has issues with everyone except Ryan. Mike's foolhardy move is a problem, but even bigger is that everyone really likes him (in exit interviews and now on social, it's clear that he's one of the most popular players of the season among the other cast members).

In this season of :duh: Ryan seems to be learning from his missteps - playing it safer now, but still playing, and not a challenge threat (he's really hard to watch now - his father must've been reigning in his shock when he saw him - maybe they warned him?), still in good with several of them. Agree that he will likely be there at the end.

And totally agree that was the worst family challenge ever!! It was almost cruel I thought.

Jeff said that they have 43 minutes to tell a story and having a competition with the loved ones takes too much time.

That tribal council was insane. I have always wanted to see someone who was getting all the votes pull out an idol and off a major player with a single vote and there it was! I was sorry to see Lauren go, but she took it well.

I know, right? I've been watching a long time and couldn't recall a more apt use of a HII. It seems like 90% either pull it out when they didn't need to or go home when they should have used it but didn't. I think Ben will remain the primary target and get voted out as soon as he doesn't win individual immunity, but he couldn't have played this particular tribal council any more perfectly.
 
What a hilarious TC. Up until recently, people did not move in TC, then a few season ago it started and now it adds another layer.
I do see how Ben is toast once he does not win immunity (or final another HII). But the way this season is going, someone else (Chrissy) might be in someone's line of fire. Both Ben and Chrissy are getting cocky, which is always the kiss of death. Devon could win this - as he not ticked anybody off yet, and he is articulate at the final TC - he could win.
Ryan also is a big threat. Mike - he makes the strangest moves at times.
Ashley does not deserve to win, Mike - no so sure - the rest of them - yes!
 
I like Lauren but don't understand why she didn't grab that idol and keep her mouth shut.

After all the talk before tribal council, she had to have known she was at risk. It made no sense to give part of the idol to Mike. It would have been great if she'd kept her idol a secret and then pulled it out after Ben pulled his out. :wall::confused:

I hope Devon wins.
 
Lauren was doing great until this episode :wall: Has anyone read if she really did leave the advantage vote at camp? If so, that was another really stupid move on her part. She could have used it and voted for another person (Mike?) so that the vote ended up being 1-1 with a revote. Then again, I don't know if she, or anyone, expected everybody but Ben to vote for Ben, and obviously nobody knew he had an idol. So I guess that idea is potentially moot, looking back.
