CONGRATULATIONS MANCHESTER UNITED!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Not the most exciting game ever played but they are now eligible for the UEFA Champions League next season and they are now 1 of 5 teams, and the 2nd English team, to have won all of the UEFA trophies available.

Arsenal 2 v 1 Chelsea in the FA Cup Final. Interesting game in that Arsenal were clearly the better team in this game. Chelsea won the Premier league title by certainly being the best team over the 38 game season, but in this one game for the FA Cup trophy they were not even close to being the best team on the field. Such is sport....:)

NJL (another example would be the NE Patriots losing to a lesser NY Giants in 2 Super Bowls, events I dearly loved..;)..)

USA 1 v 1 Mexico at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. USA gets an unexpected point in a place that is one of the most difficult venues for the visiting team to do anything but lose. Mexico stays #1 in the Hex. The USA moves up to #3 temporarily.

NJL..(....:respec::eek::40beers::)..)

Germany won the U21 European Championship title on Friday, playing 1:0 against Spain, and today, the so-called "Perspektiv-Team" (a team consisting of a lot of very young players, many who have never played on the team before) won the ConfedCup 1:0 against Chile. :cheer2: :cheer2:

OK, I'll comment...;-)

USA and Jamaica will play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final Wednesday night @ 9PM EDT on FS1 in the US.

More than likely the game will start at 10PM with a full hour of gab and commercials starting at 9PM.

Congrats to both teams! I really did not expect Jamaica to win at all! Very well done! Should be a great game! :cheer2:

It could be good. The USA has scored 11 goals and Jamaica has only given up 2. I predict the the team that scores 1st will win. We will see.

Well Canada got beaten by Guyana once. A country with 500,000 people. At least we have good company now, with Jamaica also giving Mexico their walking ticket. :shuffle:

Canada gave a very good account of themselves this time around. I was a bit surprised that Jamaica beat them. Keep In mind, also, that Canada is the only team other than the USA or Mexico to win this competition. We will see if Jamaica can be #4. If they were playing Mexico in the final I'd be rooting for them, too, but since it is the USA v Jamaica I gotta root for my team...;)

NJL (For all of that I will not be heartbroken if Jamaica wins)

USA 2 v 1 Jamaica in 90 minutes.

I honestly did not expect this USA team to get out of group and they wind up winning the competition. That is a pleasant surprise....:)

Also, a tip of the hat to Jordan Morris. His pathetic marking allowed Jamaica to tie the score 1-1 early in the second half, but scoring the game winner with a rocket into the goal in the 88th minute made up for that lapse.

Overall an entertaining game for the USA fans. Probably less so for everyone else, but, all in all, a decent ending to a rather poorly played competition.

NJL (It was also strange for the USA to have the majority of fans in the stadium. We are usually the "visiting" team in any match played in California. Or Florida, Or Texas. Or just about anywhere else in in the US ..;)..)

Well, my LA Galaxy are turning in their worst season in the last 10 years. A combination of poor signings, some injuries and a horrific coaching selection equals disaster. The GM needs to be fired asap.:wuzrobbed

Quit complaining, buddy, we have a much worse scenario here:

At least you still have a team to cheer for however inept it may be. Mine is dead for at least the 4th time and I do not see it being resurrected. I am not a happy camper*.

OTOH, THE Miami FC continues to play in the NASL & Mr Beckham's MLS team may actually become a reality. Miami FC is simply not my team. Never has been, never will be. The Southern Legion, the supporters group for Beckham's team, has been adamant that it will be a team for Miami only. All other please do not apply or attend. Not exactly a warm welcoming invitation to the 3,000,000+ residents in the two northern counties of the tri-county. I doubt if Mr Becks will allow that attitude to continue. He will want fannies in seats and will not be concerned where they came from.

Please stand by for the next exciting chapter of the beautiful game in South Florida continues.

NJL....:(

ETA: *..There are persistent rumors of a deal being made by the City of Ft Lauderdale involving a water park, Lockhart Stadium (now a near wreck) and a tenant for the stadium. This sounds very much like the BS we've heard for at least 5 years so I will believe it when I see it.
