Evgenia Medvedeva's latest interview has been translated by @TAHbKA here: Ermolina's interview with Medvedeva `The easiest way is not necessarily the right'
I love Gubanova too, she has a musicality very few skaters have , thought for a minute it was the new SP but this video is last seasons SP and whoever posted the video changed the music.
Thanks for letting us know this is not Anastasia Gubanova's new short program. Benoit Richard choreographed one of her programs back in April in Egna, Italy: https://www.instagram.com/p/BS1y3Y0Dr4k/

Tatjana F's GoldenSkate article with Bobrova/Soloviev: http://www.goldenskate.com/2017/06/bobrova-and-soloviev/

--Their goal next year is Olympic bronze (individual) and Olympic gold (team)
--It may be their final season, but they are not sure. Bobrova floats several possibilities--i.e., 1) They may continue, 2) She may take a year off to have a baby, then continue, 3) She may retire and Soloviev might continue with another partner
--They are trying to choose just the right music for the rhumba
--They want to keep the FD music secret so that people don't form misconceptions of the program. It sounds like they are making up their own storyline to a well-known piece of music
--They want a strong debut of their programs at the Russian test skates and hope they will not need to make many changes afterward

Yes, and @Eislauffan replied that the music is not Carmen or Swan Lake. ;)

Ruslena :wuzrobbed Sorry, I was living in denial the last few months and this video just showed that they are definitely over. Anyway, I'm glad that she found someone to skate with although I'm unsure if he is "the one" for her. I thought he was considered to be the weaker skater when he still was with Davankova.

So it seems Lozko-Pitkeev are in Alexei Gorshkov's group and so are Ilinykh and Shibnev. That is, if I'm understanding this complicated drama correctly.
Interesting. It's strange that they are not with Kustarova. She and Ilinykh seemed to be very close. Good for Zahorski/Guerreiro though, they will definitely get tons of coach attention now.

I think any of the current juniors would be better than Shibnev. I suppose she didn't want to split an existing couple, and it is not as if there were many available male dancers. Shibnev was probably the best that was available, but I agree that I thought he was the weaker one in his last partnership and Davankova was doing ice dance only for a year, so being worse than her was quite an achievement! I wish she tried with Mozgov. I don't think much about his personality, but at least he had potential before he started skating with Popova.

Almost all I/k performances have huge mistakes and errors and disappointing results so while Olympics 2014 might make a person wonder what might've been it's a minefield watching old videos.

24hrs in between. FSU off-season lv.4!
Well, at this stage it is all guessing. Same as you were making up a few reasons. I never claimed that I am sitting in Elena's head and know why she made the decisions.

Anna Shcherbakova (expected to make her JGP debut this year) was scheduled to appear in the "Dreams on Ice" shows in Japan this week but had to withdraw due to injury :(, according to a notice published on the DOI website on July 5 (in Japanese): http://www.onice.jp/DOI17/common/topimg/DOI17.pdf

Evgenia Medvedeva and Maria Sotskova are both there. Photos of Maria were posted in her fan thread:
Here are some photos of Medvedeva: https://twitter.com/sn_figure/status/883312774532616193

All three could develop into something Russian ice dance needs.

I don't see I&S getting anywhere near the 2018 Olympics but both are young enough to make it to 2022. Same with L&P.

Z&G may actually have a shot - not sure what his citizenship status is though.

Any hockey fans here? Elena & Shibnev remind of me of the Flyers top defensive pair, Ivan Provorov (talent) and Andrew MacDonald (prop). Painful.

According to Wikipedia, Jonathan was born in Sydney, Australia, April 3rd, 1991:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Guerreiro

Here are the citizenship rules applied for a person to be considered "Portuguese by origin" and therefore a citizen of Portugal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_nationality_law):

Portuguese by origin are:

  • The children of a Portuguese mother or father born in Portuguese territory
  • The children of a Portuguese mother or father born abroad if the Portuguese parent is there serving the Portuguese State;
  • The children of a Portuguese mother or father born abroad if they have their birth registered at the Portuguese civil registry or if they declare that they want to be Portuguese;
  • The persons born in Portuguese territory to foreign parents if at least one of the parents was also born in Portugal and resides here, irrespective of title, at the time of birth;
  • The persons born in Portuguese territory to foreign parents who are not serving their respective State, if they declare that they want to be Portuguese and provided that one of the parents has legally resided in Portugal for at least five years at the time of birth (There is no age limit for the registration or declaration and it is retroactive to the time of birth. This right is extensive to the next generation only if the previous one completed it before death. No generations can be skipped);
  • The persons born in Portuguese territory who do not possess another nationality.
  • Persons born abroad with, at least, one Portuguese ascendant in the second degree (grandparent) of the direct line who has not lost this citizenship.
Now, I have no idea how his parents met or what his father was employed as during the time of Jonathan's birth in Australia, but it would seem that that last bullet point "grandfathers" Jonathan in to be considered Portuguese...

There's also this:

As of July 29, 2015, those born outside Portugal who have at least one grandparent of Portuguese nationality, are granted Portuguese citizenship by extension immediately. The new registration procedure replaces the current provision of Article 6, no. 4--according to which a person who was born abroad and is a 2nd generation descendant of a citizen who has not lost his or her citizenship can acquire Portuguese citizenship by naturalization, without a residence requirement. The amendment still needs to be signed by the President before entering into law (I don't have any idea by the Wikipedia source if this was done, but it doesn't say that it wasn't)

Before this, there was a six year residency requirement in place...but also he would still have to register with the Portuguese civil registry and declare that he WANTED Portuguese citizenship...
