Alex has gained a lot of female fans throughout the years, and he's been compared to a lot of Asian drama actors, but the Yeo Jin Goo comparison does look like a Shib sib. I'm glad to see both Alex and Maia gain a huge following with many of them being admirers...as hard as it is for some on FSU to believe judging from the Porny Skater of the Year thread.
 
Maia and Alex have a small appearance in Ryan Higa's behind-the-scenes video of making their K-Pop parody group BgA's (Boys Generally Asian) music video "Who's it Gonna Be":

It looks like they were visiting the set with Teen Wolf actress Arden Cho.

The embrace that Maia and Alex are getting from outside the skating world is so exciting. My Asian American millennial friends especially are pretty much freaking out that their "favorite people!" "worlds are colliding!" that they all know each other and hang out!

Wongfu and Ryan Higa are bonafide Youtube stars with millions of fans and viewers. Arden Cho is an actress with a huge fan base as well from her TV roles. All seem to be very popular internationally as well.

So cool watching Maia and Alex continue to build bridges, bringing worlds together!

I had no idea that Asian american were so supportive to each other, it is impressive and wonderful. And the promotion is mutual because I did not know them at all, and yesterday I spent too many hours :duh::wuzrobbed watching their videos, really interesting, intelligent and funny stuff . I already subscribed to their YT channels :respec:.

I might be 100 percent wrong about this but it seems like Asian Americans are supportive of each other because they're kind of lumped together in our society. Most Asians who were not born and raised in North America that I've encountered will often talk about animosities between countries and the mistrust they hold for certain types of people although more so from people who are older than the younger generations.

I admit I'm a little worried for the Shibs' medal chances given the judging pool.
 
I'm not going to worry about judges or tech panels. After what they've proven over the last year, the Shibs can overcome perceptions, perceived previous rankings and their fans' anxieties. Let them skate to the best of their abilities and I'll be satisfied. The rest is out of their control. Go Maia and Alex! :D

I've also learned that if a skater or team is really robbed, people know it; which I find strangely comforting.
 
By now I should be accustomed, but no, I am still so impressed with the amount of responsibilities they are taking about their career. This Worlds will be great!!! :biggrinbo:cheer2:

I loved this part: Maia and Alex let Zoueva ponder points while they stick with their plan: Emphasize the work, not the medal. Take nothing for granted. Keep moving forward.

And "The programs feel like they're right where we need them to be," Maia said. "They make me feel completely in the moment, whether we are training at home or competing in front of an audience. I feel like we can share ourselves."

It is great that Marina has so much trust and respect for them to allow them that kind of independence. I am just worried that all this is a lot of time consuming and they need to rest too, but evidently they do it because they love it, and that motivates them. I am happy that they let us to know more about them through their programs /skating.

I have 2 wishes for this Worlds. Number 1 is for the Shibs to make the podium and Number 2 was for S/H to win pairs. Please Maia and Alex--make me 2 for 2.
