Starts February 17th. Reprise of the brains vs brawn vs beauty theme:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, Jeff, tell us about the big theme for season 32.What made you want to return to the Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty theme that you did in season 28 for Cagayan?

JEFF PROBST: It was during casting. As we started seeing people, it became obvious we had another really clear division of brains, brawn, and beauty. For instance, a woman who scored a perfect SAT, a former NBA bruiser, and a Vietnamese gay gardener who loves all living things.

It has a hidden immunity idol twist that I won't quote just in case someone considers that a spoiler.

And in other news, former Survivor contestant Michael Skupin is charged with possession of child porn, larceny, and racketeering:

DETROIT - A local reality TV star is behind bars for what Attorney General Bill Scheutte is calling "horrific crimes."

Michael Skupin is charged with six counts of possession of child sexually abusive materials, five counts of larceny by conversion, and one count of racketeering -- conducting a criminal enterprise -- for his role in allegedly running and promoting a Ponzi scheme.

Wow about Mike Skupin.

That idol twist sounds like something that will be talked about but not played out :blah:.

I felt like I was reading an aftershocks diatribe and my eyes glazed over. :shuffle:

Anyone care to summarize?

Basically, he has known about Skupin's ponzi schemes for some time...as did many in the Survivor community. They kept the secret in the 'Survivor family'. He insinuates that the child porn charges may me an attempt to pile on Skupin.
He believes Skupin is guilty of fleecing many people, and it doesn't look good.
He also criticizes criminals who hide behind their alleged Christianity.

YW. I found it to be a good read, especially imagining Yao Man's voice. :)

I've read other former Survivor contestant's statements about Skupin, but nothing with this much opinion and history.

The premiere is tonight - anyone planning to give it a go? I may not be able to watch tonight. Based on everything we learned at the end of last season, I may end up passing, but I may as well give it a shot.

I won't be home when it's on, so I was planning to make a decision about watching after reading reviews.

That's what I was going to do, but I was hoping someone here would be watching and posting to help me evaluate :shuffle:

I plan on watching tonight in real time but I'm not sure how much "help" I'll be as I haven't watched a full season in awhile and I have a bad head cold. But will do my best to give an opinion one way or the other.

Plan on watching tonight. I've watched every full season since Africa, which is the one I started with, so will continue to give it the benefit of the doubt. We'll see how it goes.

I've set the pvr for tonight in case I hear from the rest of you that it's off to a great start (and I'm curious about the BB player), but as with other recent seasons, I'm just not sure I can take on another show and keep up with it all.

I forgot that I had TAR set to record from previous seasons because after last season I'd decided it was time to skip it. So, I did watch it & was pleasantly surprised. I found the young couples to be entertaining & the road blocks, etc. ok. I'm hooked & haven't missed a Race yet. On the other hand I have skipped Survivor & Big Brother some years. You can usually tell during the 1st episode if you'll like the contestants or not.

Every year I say I'm not going to watch BB, and then I do. I usually on watch the vote-out shows (there are 3 shows a week) and otherwise following the snarkfest online, which is better than the tv show anyway. But if it's a nice Thursday evening I'll skip it to stay outside instead :) BB Canada is supposed to be much better, but it's on in the spring and again, I can't commit to a show that's several nights a week plus the after show they do.

I do follow this thread every season though :)

I thought it was a good premiere! I think there's some potential for some great characters with this group. Was this the first time we've ever had a tie at the very first tribal council? Usually everyone's so afraid of not going with the group that we get a landslide vote so they aren't an easy target for the next go around.

That bug in the ear :yikes:

I enjoyed it too.

The ear bug. :scream:

There's already a few I dislike. Not grabbed onto any super likes yet. Was kind of sad Darnell went home - I don't usually care much about first boots.

Darnell would not have gotten my vote. Blondie sure would have. I thought the BB player was a jerk. Who did he play for?
