Recordings that say "Your call is valuable to us." And then you are told the wait time is 8 minutes. If you valued me you wouldn't make me wait.

Elderly people who are too proud to get hearing aids. The rest of us end up repeating ourselves over and over and over again. And the volume on the tv, radio etc...Yikes...blaring noise.

Cars on side streets that straddle both the right and left lanes. Inevitably they want to turn left and take awhile while a number of cars are waiting to turn right.
 
People who don't watch their own kids. Example: at ball games where my kids are playing sports,when I have one kid in the game and I'm watching my other play with his friends.It's not my job to watch your kids as well.Because when I have to leave,your kid is going to be wandering around without adult supervision and as a mom,I won't walk off and leave a small child wandering around. I have been known to walk a kid to their parents and say "Hey,here's your kid,I'm leaving."

People who just absolutely cannot allow you to pass them on the highway so they speed up and pass you,then slow down,so you pass them,then they speed up again...seriously.

People who fake laugh,really loud to "charm" people,makes me want to gag. Figuratively not literally.
 
Parents who can't or won't control their children, especially in public places like at restaurants or on public transportation.

Loud and obnoxious children.

People who act like they know all about you because they've been to place(s) from your background.
 
Currently a coworker is annoying me ... he always arrives so early that if we're meant to be doing something together I have to arrive half an hour early to avoid looking late.

Kids breathing (snuffling) through snotty noses.

People who continue explaining something after you've indicated you know what they mean.
 
I'm so glad you asked! How many do you want? No, besides all of the usual children and traffic aggravations, and the typos in books and on t.v. (a BIG banner on the news yesterday over the video of a BABY CLYDESCALE -??? If you can't type, get someone to proofread it before it goes on the air.) -

Here is something that has been bugging me for years and I even just mentioned to someone a couple days ago -- grocery baggers. They fill those little plastic bags full of everything. You would think they are doing that to save bags, but, no, then they double bag it because it is too heavy. Put half in one bag and half in the other. Duh!!!!! 1. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I can't lift it. You could quintuple bag two 2 liters of pop and my wrist would break if I tried to lift it by the handles. I tell them and they look at me like I'm a 90 year old woman. 2. Everything falls over in the cart on the way to the car and I have to pick them up and put them in the trunk separately. 3. I've had yogurt leak after having a soup can fall over on it in the bottom of the bag. (Yes, I ask them to put all the yogurts in a separate bag, but between trying to keep my purse on that little ledge and use my card and coupons and pay and watch the register, sometimes I don't notice till it's too late.) Hating to go to the grocery store is bad enough, but the bagging really stresses me out.
 
People who use supermarket shopping carts for their own personal use and then throw them out. I see shopping carts all over the city in places where they really shouldn't be and one building I know has about six of different colours in the back. LOL
 
Courtroom cases where the body was found in the house on the ground!
The ground is outside. The floor is inside. Does the court reporter actually record this? Why doesn't the judge correct the testimony? What would happen if this case came up on appeal...how would this be addressed? The attorneys even make this error. Suppose the body was on the floor while the weapon was found on the ground. Hey...mistrial! :argue:
It seems so simple and these court documents are supposed to reflect exactly what went on and where...accurately.
 
Chewing gum with mouth open

Fast food restaurants that assume you want a cheeseburger even though you asked for a hamburger ( if I wanted a cheeseburger I would had ordered a cheeseburger)

People who talk so loud in a restaurant to their table mates or on a cellphone that you can't hear the person sitting across from you.

Parents who allow their kids to use their tablets at full volume in a restaurant

When there are two drive thru lanes at the bank, one has an ATM and a teller, the other just has the teller. Drives me crazy when someone who only wants the teller uses the ATM lane even if the other lane is empty.
 
Ha ha at the cheeseburger/hamburger!!!!! I never noticed that before, you are 100% right!

smacking food around in open mouths is the one that kills me. It's the sight but even more, the SOUND.

my pet peeve is that I own many grocery bags but when I bring them in the house I never remember to return them to the car. So then I end up with plastic bags AND reusable bags.
 
Oh, my other pet peeve is when people who can chew food choose instead to use those squeezers to eat. It grosses me out to see adult nursing on one-use, landfill destined,. single serving squeezers.

At work when someone asks u for something and I ask when do they need it by.
Soon is not a good answer, date and time please. Be explicit.

People in parking lots that forget basic driving rules when it is 2 way, and they ar on the wrong side, or worse - in the middle.

There's a flip side to that though. I was taught to say first, second, third and not to use firstly, secondly, thirdly. So I don't like it when I see/hear it though I'm told it is now accepted usage.
 
In an open office, people who like to play their music without their headphones on. It might have the volume turned down but it is still annoying as shit when you are trying to do your work. Particularly when it 80's pub rock.

The most annoying person for this regard is one of my colleagues who complains about everyone else being inconsiderate, noisy, talking too much (even when they are just doing their work), etc and then has her "soothing" music on to help her destress. When I told her I could hear it and asked her to put her earphones in, she basically questioned what my problem was and that her sensitivity to sound was more important than anyone else's.

I had a colleague who was sensitive to noise too, so she wore earplugs. She then spent the entire day yelling at everyone because of the earplugs...

Some of my pet peeves: people who walk around in shoes in winter, department stores that keep offering you their credit cards whenever you buy something and upstairs neighbours who let their kids run around as if they lived in a bungalow.
 
. The over use of ":rolleyes:" . I feel like I'm talking to a bratty 14 years old; Adults should be able to get their points across online without resorting to that emoticon.

. People who leave filthy mess in or on the public toilets, especially at the workplace.

. extremely slow driver.

. co-worker that is chatty and constantly has loud conversations, both personal and work-related, in a work room shared by multiple people.

. someone who "talks the talk" to make herself look good to others, but often doesn't practice what she preaches.
 
Life is full of annoyances. I have my own business and a goodly number of the people I deal with are majorly annoying, especially when they don't speak English well and I have to tactfully (somehow) interrupt 20 minute conversations to point out that I can't understand a word the person is saying.

Waiting in lines-ups are a particular annoyance.

One thing that really really annoys me is the constant use of 'how are you?' in this culture. I'm really not one for idle chit chat and I'd rather skip that question, since the answer is always predetermined and you are not supposed to tell anyone how you really are anyway.

Replying to myself, because grocery carts reminded me (not a pet peeve, just something I wanted to "share" because I just remembered...) I was getting out of my car at Walmart a couple months ago, and a grandmotherly lady was getting a little girl out of the seat of the cart across from me. She lifted her up and the whole back side of her was wet. Uh, the cart didn't get the kid wet!!!! Grrrrross!!!!! Now I don't put the plastic flap of the seat down anymore anywhere before I put my purse there. (And before anyone makes jokes about "Walmart people", that could happen anywhere. They were well dressed and had a nice car.)

I taught high school English and could not eradicate that bad habit. It seems that people think that the contractions "should've", "could've", etc...are actually "should of", "could of". It was a huge frustration as a teacher to constantly be correcting that in writing. I tried to teach them to not even use the contractions, but that did not help the matter.

The most frustrating one at my last school, though, was the huge number of kids who used the word "begging" in place of beginning in writing. I saw that constantly and I have no idea the roots of that error. They never made it when speaking.
 
Parents who seem to feel compelled to load up their children's names with...apostrophes! :confused: I once had a child in my class who had two in the first name and two more in the middle name...none of which took the place of omitted letters. What are these kids going to do when they are finally taught the rule for use of apostrophes? :huh: or maybe...h'u'h'?
 
  • "This is your second and final call...."
  • Anyone calling for Vagabond from a call center somewhere in India and claiming to be from Windows (as if there were a company called Windows).
  • The employees at our local Department of Public Works who close out service requests without actually doing anything about the problem.
  • People who wear black clothes and cross the street illegally at night while wearing headphones and looking in the opposite direction from oncoming traffic.
