The WSL (professional surfing) has announced beginning in 2019, prize money will be the same for men or women in all WSL sponsored events. Hopefully, other professional sports will follow suit.
To their credit, most international federations who run professional tours for both men and women have pay equity. Surfing was one of the last remaining individual sports on the Olympic programme with prize money inequities.
As far as individual sports with a governing
body for both men and women, there are still rather significant pay inequities in women's road cycling (biggest gap), women's ski jumping and women's high diving.
Outside of the Olympics, Squash is a latecomer for equal pay (equal pay at World Championships and PSA Tour Finals starting last year).
