This is my extremely unofficial tally pre-Worlds with a lot of rounding, taking top 4 points from Season World Standings for men and ladies each (from at least 2 diff men and 2 diff ladies, I don't think all 4 can come from same skater IIRC), and top 2 for pairs and dance each, which is how I believe it is calculated. CHN is hurt by only having 1 lady with points and their 2nd man is He Zhang who isn't competitive at the top. KOR has no real pairs and dance teams right now...

RUS 7650
USA 6300
JPN 6160
FRA 5780
ITA 5100
CAN 5000
-------------
CHN 3710
KOR 3030
GER 2750

Six teams will be vying for the event.

If you take into consideration results from the Grand Prix Series, Europeans and Four Continents, Russia (strong in all four disciplines), USA (strong in men's singles and dance), Japan (strong in ladies' and men's singles), France (strong in pairs and dance), China (strong in pairs and men's singles), Canada (strong in dance), and Italy (strong in dance and men's singles) are the teams most likely up for consideration.

Will the World Championships results ONLY be the deciding factor?

I have red somewhere she is on ice and will try to train for WTT. I know she is going to Japan for shows, I find the participation ai the WTT very unlikely, but hope is the last to die

I am afraid not. Very recent article explained why Kostner will not be at the Worlds in Saitama, due to injury, and the nature of her injury, which requires further treatment and recuperation. She is still dealing with her left hip and foot fracture rehabilitation.

It is not likely she'll be able to skate 3 weeks later.

For a team event, she might, is physically possible. Italy has nobody else for ladies to put out there, so the Italian team would still be better off with an untrained, watered down content Kostner than without her.

i love Caro, and keep an eye on her skating, but her content would be very watered down at present...

I think Lucrezia Beccari, the real Juliette, should go, even if placed 2nd at nationals. This girl is very good, and imo the best in the country at present.

sorry, you did not read my post right. She goes to Japan for shows. I know she is not going for worlds as I told before the official announcement, but she will be in Japan for shows. And I said it's unlikely she will be able to skate at WTT, still hoping she will prove me wrong

The best Italian skater in my eyes is Marina PIREDDA , there will be a skate off this week-end. Lucrezia BECCARI will go to JWC, she is still to young to enter at senior competition
