Ok everyone. Who is your #1 favorite Skater from the 1961 World Team? For me it's...Ice-Dance=Diane Sherbloom and Larry Peirce.
Ladies Freestyle= Merabell Owen
Mens Freestyle= not sure
Pairs= not sure

Sorry if I misspelled their names.

Bradley Lord for mens.

Laurence Owen for ladies. (I think you mean Laurence, she was the competitor in singles.) Her sister, Maribel, also lost on the flight, was in pairs

I went to Colorado Springs in 2000s to research this incident..... Was personal.

And for those interested.... there are so many nice articles and some books out there... here is the wiki for those you want to know more:

President JFK was affected by this incident as well, as he was friends with pairs skater Dudley Richards.

At the 2011 US Figure Skating Championships (I believe they were held in North Carolina) the 50th anniversary of the crash was acknowledged and the Team inducted into The Hall Of Fame. I remember Michelle Kwan, Dick Button and Evan Lysacek, Peggy Flemming there as well as surviving family members from the team and plane.

This thread makes me sad. I've seen the archived footage of the 1961 U.S. Nationals. So poignant. My favorite if I must choose is Laurence Owen. Imo she had it all and was a superstar in the making. But alas...?? I am fond of all those lost skaters. ❤?❤
