What did you learn today that you didn't learn yesterday?

My late father had a friend who would always ask me "What did you learn today that you didn't learn yesterday?" every time he saw me when I was growing up. It used to drive me crazy, LOL.

Anyway, I learned today that when I snipped off the head of a praying mantis, its body was still capable of controlled movement as if the head was still attached.

USPS postage has gone way up. When I shipped a 20x20x2 inch package that was quite light (I could easily lift it), it cost me $33. Ouch!

Next time I will check both UPS and USPS and pick the less expensive option.

I will use a smaller box next time. I just ordered two from Home Depot.

You can often save money at USPS by using the priority flat rate - but not all the time, so check. I always check the USPS site under "calculate a price".

I have been trying to be a better listener. Today I picked up a friend from work who needed to talk. She told me her troubles and I asked a few questions. I made a determined effort to stay silent; hoping she would talk more. She didn't. I learned that sometimes staying silent isn't the key to listening.

I was watching the Tragically Hip documentary on Amazon Prime and found out that “Road Apples” means “Horse Sh&/$7&!” in Canadian. Who knew?

For the first time in my life, I saw the Northern lights Friday night. I'm unable to go outside. However, I was able to view the Northern Lights through my double windows in my kitchen! KTBS had an article about it with a picture taken by a lady from Minden, La. This pic is exactly what I saw!

I learned that the northern lights could have a combination of colors, and what I saw Friday night was pink and purple! And of course, Purple is one of our favorite colors at FSU!
