U.S.Women [#9]: Now That's What I'm F*@&%!$ Talking About!

Alysa was amazing, but holy hell, what a comeback from Amber. From 13th to 4th!!!! I can't wait to watch tonight's recap on NBC (I am, unfortunately, working right now and can't revel in my Olympic high until later, lol).

ETA: OK, she finished 5th. Still incredible. And she was third in the free skate. Wow.

I knew Alysa could win gold, but I wasn't expecting it.

She truly is having THE most insane comeback in skating history.
I've thought she could all season long and I was right there with Tara during Nats when she whispered under her breath that she thought Alysa could win the Olympics. I've had a very strong sense of destiny being fulfilled with her. She's come so far from that 13-year old who became the youngest US champion ever to now. I never would have expected it 7 years ago - the hype was too much. And then she went and did what no one could have ever expected, threw off the expectations and took control of her life. I love her journey to this destination so very much.

Congratulations to both Alysa and Amber, what spectacular sportswomen.

Our new Olympic champion Alysa with the same programs she used last year. Heck use them next year too.

Congratulations to Amber, who won the technical in the free skate and came in third overall in the free skate.

Her triple axel in both short and the free were whoppers, well over 10 points. In fact, in the free skate, I think she got +3 across the board.

I do hope all three go to the worlds, but I’m fine with whatever they do.

And Amber ….. could you please give us one more year lol 😬

Good Lord ….. it’s a good thing that the US women number eight thread is closed because I would’ve had a hell of a lot of crap to say. Never even went in that thread for the past two days, and just discovered some of the comments now.

If AG is a head case, I don’t know how you would explain 90% of the other worldwide women competing. Banish them to juniors? Force them to retire? Some of those comments were outrageous.

90% of all of her medals in the past two years are all Golds.

Amen

I am really impressed by Alysa. She seems to be a free spirit, but we should not forget that she has faced many challenges this season like anyone else: boot issues, abandoning the short program due to a problem with the musician, and redoing the free skate program.

I am so happy for Alysa.

I kinda hope all 3 go to worlds too. It'd be a crime if Amber never wins a world medal.

I really hope Alysa doesn't feel like she's done everything she set out to do and retires again she's just getting started. It may seem like she's been around forever but she's had only 3 seasons as a Senior internationally.

WOW. What a joy to see someone in their power, in their joy.

As someone who gets nervous, I am fascinated by Alysa's mentality.
Me, too. Peacock wasn't working for me earlier, so I couldn't watch it live and already knew that she had won when I watched her. I think I still was shaking more than she was.

It's not just that she doesn't get nervous. The big moments seem to elevate her performances. I've seen her skate that long program so many times, and I think this is the best she has ever performed it. And she did it at the Olympics.

Alysa Liu RAW: behind the scenes of a legendary gold medal moment in Milan

This is very fun to watch. Alysa got censor beeping 7 times, lol
(I think you need to set VPN as US if you are not in the US to watch this)
