There was a beautiful double rainbow over the rink this morning (based on what I can see from my window, up on a hill).

The rain was quite heavy overnight, and it's raining heavily now despite bright skies. Today's forecast is better than yesterday's, with 11 mm of rain forecast in the next 24 hours (v. 66 in the past 24 hours). These aren't big totals, but 1) Nice, and 2) it has been raining for weeks here.

I'm hopeful that the competition can go on even though the "red warning" lasts until midnight.

It looks like the weather forecast isn't improving for Friday so maybe the whole thing is canceled? Is that what you heard @cholla?

I didn't hear it, I received this : As announced in the Team Leaders' meeting, to guarantee the fairness for all skaters involved, and considering the uncertainty in terms of weather forecast, the Referees, with the OC, after consulting with the ISU, made the decision to:

o Stop the competition after the Short Program for the Junior Women, Junior Ice Dance and Senior Pairs;
o The final results for these categories will be the Short Program’s results.

Despite the better weather forecast, today is turning out to be worse. There is prolonged torrential rain that is causing near-zero visibility and flooding. The gutters on my house and the one next door have been overflowing for an hour. Thankfully I'm on a hill, but I am worried about my patio and balcony, which are swimming pools right now. I am going to flood if this keeps up for another hour.

It is absolutely not safe to go outside in the vicinity of the rink right now. I've not seen this weather in Nice before. Looks like it was the right call, but perhaps a bit too early.

Even if the competition goes ahead, I'm not going to make the 1 km journey over. I'll watch on the livestream. Maybe tomorrow.

ETA: 20 minutes later, it's sunny and there's another rainbow . So who knows. But more rain expected in the next hour, so I'm still not going to the rink.

I woke up in time for Nordeback - solid 3a, 3z+3t and I can't remember his solo triple - but he definitely looks healthier than he has in awhile, hopefully he can get at least 1 quad back.

Kapeikis - 3f good; 3a - fall; 3z+3t - I was surprised it wasn't reviewed because the 3t looked questionable to me.
