For many reasons I lost interest in the MLB and NHL years ago. I am totally a late bandwagoner fan, but the Raptors brought a lot of joy to my cold heart. I loved watching the playoff games and liked what I heard and saw from the players.

My congratulations to all the fans who stuck with them through thick and thin - you deserve this!

I wasn't invested, although my sister is a Golden State fan from way back. But wow, the last two games have been so intense! Congrats to the Raptors, and especially to Fred VanVleet, getting those crucial 3-pointers!

No basketball fan be any measure but the energy in this city is infectious! The subway is crowded and everyone seems to be wearing Raptors stuff. :respec:

There have been a shooting in Nathan Phillips Square and a stampede. Several people have been hurt.

I wouldn't sensationalize that though. One person is in hospital with non life threatening injuries. Whenever you have two and a half million people out at the same time, incidents are bound to happen.

I'd rather focus on the positive, like things like this and this.

It concerns me that someone brought a gun to a celebration. Fortunately no one died but four people were injured. I take that seriously. It seems the police acted swiftly and avoided a worse tragedy. I read that they arrested three people. Hopefully the culprits will be punished. It is good that majority of the people didn’t know what had happened, so the celebration continued.

I hope the Canadian government takes appropriate measures. I want Canada to be the safe country I think it is.

It's a priority issue at all levels of government, has been before this happened. Programs include a recent buy back of firearms that was lauded as very successful.

It's by no means the end of it, but to respond to your question, it's happening.

Agree with Megi though, it's a shame that this is what's making headlines when the other 2.5 million people in attendance were law abiding citizens who wanted to celebrate something good.

I am sure the Canadian government will take quick actions. Ours never will. :(

I'm loving all the beautiful photos from yesterday's celebration. Today they're saying the estimated attendance was actually over 3 million. Toronto showed up!

It's still unreal to think I can now refer to my team as the NBA Champions after 10 years of jokes and slander I've had to endure. It's yet to sink in, actually. :rollin:

Lakers barely got past the backup Nuggets last night! They looked like the "Keystone Cops" allowing "no name" players in the 4th Qtr to back door and embarrass them possession after possession with the Lakers pulling it out in the last seconds of the game! IDK how they're going to win the NBA Final playing like this? What a joke!

People have said Brian Urlacher was an arse while playing, but when living in California in the 90's, I guess I didn't hear it! Now he's mouthed off one time too many, criticizing the NBA for shutting down games in the playoffs! Quoting Urlacher, "Brett Favre played the (MNF) game the day his dad died, threw 4 TDs in the first half, and was a legend for playing in the face of adversity,” Urlacher posted in an Instagram story. “NBA players boycott the playoffs because a dude reaching for a knife, wanted on a felony sexual assault warrant, was shot by police.” Everyone's distancing themselves from him, including ex-teammates that were shocked by his insensitivity!
