Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

Well, let's just see the starting order as a good omen. SM won an Olympic Gold as the first starters of the last group. Bruno even said it was good for them. Hopefully it will be good for Tessa and Scott as well. They can skate freely, just lay everything on the ice and the others have the pressure to do the same. (I pray I'm right!!)
And I just saw that their starting number is 20 (XX). That has to be their lucky number this season!!:)

Poirier is the worst. That's like the fourth time this season he's got in the way of someone.

Start order could be worse tbh- what I was dreading was V/M first in the group and P/C last.

Did Charlie explain what was wrong with Tessa's Choctaw? Because if it was used as the standard...

So, I guess Tessa and Scott decided to bring the old lift back! http://this-is-an-open-letter.tumbl...48/thatonekimgirl-guess-whats-back-free-dance
I'm happy about it!!
Yeah! Good for them from both the points and PR perspective. Now that they've performed their MR program in the Team event and all of the subsequent buzz about their sexiness, the original lift will not be perceived as being out of place. Fits entirely with the program.
I say this as someone whose sensibilities were never offended by the lift in the first place.

Glad they skate right before P&C. The judges can truly compare both teams.

Not to be too negative, but they went back to back in this order for the SD at the GPF and that didn't work out all that well...

Better this than having them at opposite ends of a group though, I agree.

Thing is though, the FD is more up for debate about artistic preference. But in the short, I think it'll be fairly obvious even to the four year fan who has the more intricate SD (plus that Hotel California section has got almost as much attention as the infamous lift, thanks Scott :D ). If they go clean and then find themselves in second 10 minutes later I wouldn't be surprised to hear an outcry ala their undermarked Sochi short.

I take the GPF with a grain of salt. I mean B&K won that in 1997-8 and 2001-2 and then G&P then A&P won Olympic gold. 2009-10 D&W won GPF and then V&M won Oly gold.

The GPF gold medal is like a consolation prize most Oly years.

V&M have the better SD. It is the FD that is the question.

Good. I prefer it artistically, and because the new version wasn't getting all +3 (which is stupid, it's so hard and done so well, but w/e). They didn't sound thrilled to have changed it in the first place.

I don't understand why they changed it in the first place. Was that because they've come across ''cunniliftus'' moniker somewhere?

Lol so the Olympic year B&K won GPF both times & then someone else won the O Gold medal? Wow didn't realize that..

Also didn't remember D&W actually beat V&M at the GPF going into the OGames the same year..double WOW

Sorry correction B&K won 1997 in Hamilton. G&P won the next year in Germany and there was big conspiracy talk by Tracy Wilson about judging leading into Nagano.

2009-10 Tokyo D&W won over V&M because of the better SD score.

Still it's interesting that there seems to be a pattern..winning the GPF means nothing in an Oly year, plus V&M did not skate great in either SD or FD at the GPF imo..

Exactly- add in that V&M are VERY familiar with the Olympics, have 4 medals behind them, have continued momentum and their top competitors have NOT been in this situation unlike when they were up against D&W.

Both teams are really really good, but only one team has 9 Olympic skates in front of Oly judges. ;) (cd, od and fd 2010, sd x2, fd x2 in 2014 and now sd and fd here)
