Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

Scroll down to For Virtue and Moir, it's all about the transitions: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2018/02/08/266110814
Thanks a lot, Sylvia. Not just because of Tessa and Scott, but also because of Hanyu. I think this is the first information about his state that we are getting, and I would have missed it if you hadn't posted the link. Really encouraging on both Hanyu and Tessa/Scott, although not a lot of new stuff about T/S. Sorry for that bit of off-topic.

Thank you, Shayii :). Was really impatient to see the new version of the lift. I agree with Sonata that the new position is more interesting, the only thing is - the transition out of it and into the second position doesn't seem as smooth as with the previous version yet.

Thanks for the video! Unfortunately I was at work during the ceremony, I can't wait to watch them.

Has this video been posted yet https://vimeo.com/254984752 ? I loved it because there were some interesting tidbits:
- As a child Tessa dreamed of going to the Olympics with Danny Moir
- Marie and Patch talking about seeing Tessa and Scott for the first time
- Tessa talking about their FD in Sochi
- Them talking about these Olympics

Thank you so much, Goody2shoes :). I am at work and can't really watch the opening, so I truly appreciate this. Tessa and Scott look(ed) very good and were obviously having a great time despite the cold. I will watch the whole opening after work, at home.

I actually stayed up till 3, then fell asleep soon after. I’m catching up on the pics and videos now. So proud of them whatever happens they’ll always have this special memory.

I was lucky. I did not set the alarm, but happened to wake up to drink some water and it happened to be 3 am PST. So I stayed up to watch them march into the stadium and then went back to bed. It looked like they really enjoyed the experience, so I'm so happy for them!

However the individual goes (and while I haven't given up all hope, I'm fairly sure it's not going their way), I'm really happy they came back for this and are so involved in the whole experience. They looked so tense and stressed out in Sochi, Tessa particularly. It's almost like a different pair.

This picture is delightful https://instagram.com/p/Be-3nQuA2CG/

That hug Scott gives Tessa captured by Kingsbury on his Instagram. Warms my icy heart :)

Also cool to see their friends Kingsbury and Chan walking behind them, with that big smiley hug that Patrick gives Scott after V/M gives the flag to the organizers. I read so much into that hug. It’s as if it says, “YEAH! You were just the flagbearer! And we’re HERE! Together again at the OLYMPICS! WE’VE MADE IT! Can you believe it? ”

The ice on my heart is dripping on the floor.

So many more American outlets are running with this 'sexy Canadian ice dancing couple have to change x-rated move' non-story. It's hilarious. It's getting a lot of positive attention. Funny how some things just run. Between this and Baz Luhrmann, they definitely chose the right time to go viral :D

Piper and Paul were also in that front row, although on the far left. Eric Radford, Andrew Poje, and Kaitlyn Weaver were together, further back in the group of athletes. Hard to miss Tessa and Scott. Front and centre carrying that giant flag

ETA: Update...apparently athletes must be invited to the first row. Piper and Paul only appeared to be in the first row because of camera angles, and sometimes marching a little too fast.

That FD practice was everything. This program is unrecognisable from what they debuted in the best possible way. Transitions that should be unbeatable in that component if the judges do their jobs. Moonlight Sonata may be pretty but it really is so empty in comparison. V/M's seamless interdependent dancing is what this discipline should be IMO.

Well, to be fair, we don't know what MS looks like now.

True, but unless they've completely rechoreographed since Europeans (which they could've done! Not sure why they would though, they keep getting WRs), I don't think the amount of side by side skating is comparable. I do still like the feel of their program very much, it's just that V/M's is clearly more intricate, they make it look like nothing, and I feel that should be rewarded.

The practice pictures didn't lie. :D They look so sharp, happy and confident in their second free dance practice as well. :) https://vk.com/video-49286267_456240811?list=ada78054b5550263cd
The step sequence is just 100% times better IMO. I would have loved to see the Dist too, but already the Cist has been drastically reworked and not really in the steps but the execution. So much better !
And for the lift - No reason to freak out, they kept the entrance which was the more important part and the rest looks "almost" like the same BUT with a variation. Overall , this is a clear step up ! (I can't wait for the Dance event to start the teams looks so prepared and there is more than a week left) :cheer2:
