Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir # 47: Come What May...

Guess what; you don’t have to be here. Let that sink in.this is not reality. If you can’t differentiate fact truth from fiction, you should be spending your time doing other things
I want to be here and will stay here to support V/M. God forbid I Voice my concern about the obvious bias that is rampant on this site against V/M. I can very well differentiate fact truth from fiction and the fact is V/M are better than P/C. I don't need to be lectured like a child on how I spend my time, good day.

I'm getting choked up just thinking about the moment they step off the ice of their Fs of the individiual event. They have made such a large impact in ice dance and have been together so long that I can't imagine them ever retiring. I do hope they return to skating as coaches in the near future. Like you said Just four more skates....:cry::cry::cry::cry:

“I think the biggest thing is we want to be remembered for being good people. As cliché as that sounds, I look at all my favorite athletes that I admire and look up to and the ones that I admire the most are ones that are just good people and lead by example.”

You ARE great people and will be remembered as such, I'm sure of it.
The added picture of Scott is also great.

As someone who has watched Tessa and Scott since they were pre-novice, the idea of a competitive skating world without them in it hasn't quite sunk in with me yet. Even in the seasons when they were not competing, I always had a feeling in the back of my mind that they would be back, and then they were, and I was able to appreciate them even more having had two seasons without them. But now I think this will really be the end, and while I will enjoy watching them yearly in CSOI as long as they skate with the tour, that is definitely not the same as the thrill of watching them compete regularly. I am so glad I made the decision to go to Canadians to see them compete live for what will likely be the last time for me. I wish we knew for certain whether they would be competing at Worlds or not, because I feel like as long as that is even slightly in the air, I won't be ready to say to myself, "This is definitely their last competitive performance" and digest that.

Ok the Olympics are right around the corner and what does everything think their chances of winning gold are (realistically)? Some days I'm almost certain they're going to place second and other days I have this feeling that they're going to get into that zone and pull out a Mahler like performance and grab gold (and we've only really seen the new version of MR once in competition and after the month of practise I think it's even better than what they put out at nationals). Or at least have a point and a bit lead in the SD (because I do think their SD is far superior to any other team's SD this season without a doubt if skated cleanly) and it comes down to how high P/C score in the FD. Do judges usually give it to the couple that is going into the FD as 1st as long as their skate is clean? So basically I really have no idea. LOL

ETA: I too am feeling so weird thinking about competition without them next year. Honestly I've been watching them in some capacity since the year they won Jr.Nationals and CTV played their free dance during the seniors broadcast and they grew up right with me (I'm a little older than they are though). It's amazing to look back at them during that time frame as kids and seeing where they are now. I still remember all the talk about how they may not go far because Scott was too short for Tessa!

I think that if they can gain some momentum by skating really well in the team (if P/C win the short there it's over) and luck out a bit in the draw (are they going to be in the last group for the SD? If so, I want them back to back. Surely no judge could put P/C ahead of V/M if they go clean in that case) so that they get that last big crowd-stomping moment, they've got a shot.

I don't agree that P/C's FD should be worth more than V/M's, but it is what it is. They'll need 1.5-2 points on them going in at the very least. IMO that shouldn't be anywhere near as difficult as it's going to be.

They're the better skaters. But I thought they were the better skaters in 2014, and it was too late to turn that narrative around. I don't want to think it's in the bag for the French already. I still just about believe it's not too late this time. I gave them maybe a 10% chance in Sochi. 40% this time?

I think there's have a greater chance of them winning gold then a lot of people think (or want to think) on forums like these. I am going to admit this, I lost hope on them winning the gold after the GP final but that hope quickly returned after nationals. They now unofficially have the highest scores this season, officially have the highest SD score and improved their FD A LOT which people seem to forget. If they skate like they did at nationals the gold is theirs.

Yes I'm thinking it's a 40% chance as well rather than a 50%. I have a good feeling about this but the judges and I rarely see eye to eye on these things. That said I do want them to be able to skate last in the FD and get that ending moment...but I remember how that turned out for them last year at worlds. I honestly don't know how I'm going to watch this live without having a heart attack.

Same, especially since they actually have a much bigger chance this time around

Yes they're actually in it for the most part and it's going to be nerve wrecking. I could barely watch GPF! I hope all teams have a great outing and it's nothing like 2006 which is my biggest worry. :yikes:

P/C have a really hard time getting a level 4 on the midline while V/M nearly always get it, the GPF was the exception. That's 1.5 points right there.

I'm really not a fan of levels deciding placements like this, and I suspect TPTB would rather not have V/M come out of the SD with a good lead if both skate well. But it's a definite possibility.

Ah yes, I forgot about that! Need to go back and analyse the video, I can't remember off the top of my head what went wrong at the GPF. The scores are going to go through the roof this Olympics.

I’m gonna lose weight for sure between now and the dance event. Like, i want Kostner on the podium and Evgenia to beat her countrywoman but whatever happens there , it is what it is. Hanyu is who i want to win the men’s event but if Fernandez does, I’ll love that outcome. I THINK the Chinese are the ones to beat and if they win it’ll be great but i think I’m more so wanting the Germans to win.

TESSA AND SCOTT HAVE TO WIN ICE DANCE. any other outcome will be a tough pill to swallow.

Are they allowed to skate both programs in the team competition?

I can’t believe the Olympics are here! I read that the awful Noriflu (so) has hit 1/2 the sercurity guards let’s hope all the athletes don’t get exposed. I had it once and it took me out for a week.

I'd be astonished if they didn't skate both parts of the team event. Canada wants that gold and they won't be getting it if they sub V/M. I wonder if the ice dance is the last discipline in the team as it was in Sochi? Could be a real moment for them if it's very close between Canada and OAR and V/M are the ones who can clinch it.

I didn't realise they were so well loved in South Korea! If only Yuna Kim could whip round a few TV shows declaring her love for them...

Tessa is ridiculous. You'd just point and laugh if you saw photos of me after a flight that long.

They have already confirmed they are skating both segments in the Team Event. Here is the question they were asked about their schedule in SK. I take this as confirmation. Do you guys agree with me?

IIRC, Yuna did name them and Michelle Kwan as her favorite skaters. And said Mahler was her favorite program in Vancouver.

I also remember a fanvid from Vancouver of her (very patiently) signing like ten things for Scott lol.

I am sure they are very much loved in Korea since I saw videos of their performances at Yuna's shows there. The audience just got crazy about them, they were screaming every time when they even glanced at each other
