Stolbova and Klimov Thread

I'm not so excited with for Besame Mucho choice. Have to see the choreo. I also hope they are going for a modern approach with Carmen. When are they competing?

Well, this was not their weekend. I pray Fedor's injury heals soon. They were brave to go out with him obviously not 100%. But it was awesome to see their programs which I think are both fabulous, especially the free. They move so beautifully.

I like this team and i was REALLY looking forward to a non Kapranova program. Pasquale did the short and MFS did the free. Am I right? I want to know who to blame for what looks like the most basic Carmen. Still, it was cohesive.

I really thought that this program was going perfectly. I mean, these two are trained in skating and in pairs. What I mean is that they have spent the long hours learning each others timing and have an awareness of one another that doesn't look as deliberate as i know it is. The other thing i love about them is that they always look like themselves and it's a good thing. Their short last year proved that classic lines etc are not their strong suit which is fine because that is where Tarasova/Morozov belong anyway. These two... Ksenia is a goddess...we all know that. Fedor is no slouch. He's very masculine and at the same time a good skater and partner. I like this team and this season, their material is good. I was expecting something dirtier ( in a good way) with their Carmen.

From FS Gossips:

"Ksenia and Fedor’s short program is to Bésame Mucho, free program – “Carmen”. Both programs were choreographed in USA by Pasquale Camerlengo. First they did a free program in Canada with Marie-France Dubreuil, but I did not like that program, and we eventually gave up that option and asked Pasquale." – Mozer said.

Interesing. Well, it wasn't bad but for Pasquale to be so creative, that was a basic Carmen program.

Of course, now I want to see the MFD free skate.

Oh, that FS was so painful to watch. These two can mesmerize, and to watch them have so many problems (did the boot thing happen in his fall earlier, hard to tell as a non-skater). I think it's good right now the program is that basic, they are clearly training back their lifts and other elements. all the SBS stuff looked really good though.

She is the queen of fashion. So glad they've experimented with the top, usually she has the same sort of halter-neck style. Of course the FS kind of sucked technically but I really love both programs. I think the Carmen is fine, it'll of course look better with clean lifts!

Her Carmen dress is amazing. I love how it doesn't look cheap... usually the illusion is crap but hers is just perfect... ;)

I think it would look good if she had a dress like the one she wore for their Notre-Dame program, but red with black lace over the top.

It wasn't Ksenia and Fedor's best skate at Rostelecom Cup, but they got silver behind Tarasova/Morozov and they're looking good for a shot at the Final. Just a little update!

I was hoping they would win but they are very unfortunate, it seems. They definitely had the best programmes, great skating and maturity and I always LOVE Ksenia's outfits. Cool and sophisticated, great skating skills etc etc - what more can one possibly wish for?

I hope they can keep improving. For me they are the best pair and they're programs consistently have been my favorite (I also love Sui/Han too). I also think Fedor as the best technique on the lifts and throws of all the men.

I love how he doesn't throw too hard. He's so gentle with her, always making sure she doesn't crack her head.

So yes, Stolbova and Klimov want to get to the top again, to win Grand Prix Final. Stolbova is a fierce competitor. “She is the kind of person who wants to win every time,” Zhovnirsky said. “Every time, every practice, every element. If it’s not perfect, she gets angry and upset. Sometimes, it’s not so easy for us.” Her coaches would tell her than an element she’s done is good. “No,” Stolbova will say. “Not good enough.” She’s angry at herself but also at others. And the gentle Klimov is first glance. “Fedor has to be perfect as well,” Zhovnirsky said.

Sounds just like the Susie we all know and love :)

I don't know what this section of the article is about:

Also, they’ve added an ambitious throw triple Lutz to their routine. They knew very well that the throw double Axels they were doing weren’t going to cut it if they wanted to make it to the top again. It’s like going from zero to 60 in a moment.

It only took them a month to get it ready. Zhovnirsky didn’t expect their mastery of it would be so quick. They landed it at Finlandia Trophy and got high GOEs for it.

S/K have been doing throw triple flip/Lutz since at least 2014, including at Worlds this past spring. Unless he means they had gone back to doing throw double Axel over the summer??

Great article! I think the reason I love them so much is that contrast between them. Ksenia is a tough chick (like me lol) and sometimes she could chill a little, but lately I feel like we've been seeing this more supportive, lovely side of her. At first she comes off as a total bad girl, but I do think there's a lot of heart in there too.

I did consider that she would be great with Trankov, but they'd kill each other :) Fedor is so perfect for her; he's gentle and patient (and just dang perfect!), but I get the feeling that he's not afraid to call her out on her crap if she gets a little out of hand. It's a strong, dynamic partnership and I count them as one of my very favorite pairs.

You know, the thing I'll regret most about these two is not winning the OGM or not. The Olys are once in four years and it's really difficult to win, but these two are extraordinary skaters and WC material. I would feel very sad if they retire without winning that title as well as european title.
