Skating videos without sound

In a brilliant move to attract fans to the sport US figure skating has posted the free dance from last year’s national championships. It’s kind of like going back to the movies before there was sound because apparently we don’t want to pay license fee so we’ll just put videos up of skaters skating with no sound- welcome to 1920. Well, I guess it is at least in color

Why did they think this was a good idea? It’s not fair to the skaters to have this pathetically bad product out there and it certainly is not going to attract people to the sport. all you’re getting lots of people posting on there’s no sound. Where is the sound. They look incompetent

This is interesting. USFSA have a policy which now stipulates that skaters can only use music that is fully licensed to be able to be used. They sent a communication to their members. This was posted on the US Competitive Adult Skaters FB page. Policy

I understand the music policy. But why are they even bothering to post this? Do they really think that people are going to randomly come across it watch it and want to go to support the sport? No people are sitting there going what kind of idiot posts videos with no sound.


They didn’t put a disclaimer on there explaining why there’s no sound. So people just think it’s because they screwed up not because they intentionally thought this was a good idea. But maybe it’s better that people don’t understand they intentionally did this.


And they posted this five hours ago it’s not like it’s been up in the sound got taken down

I did a FF and some have sound with music, some no sound, some no music but commentary and a weird ambient noise. I don’t do drugs but I felt like Alice in Wonderland from the bits I saw.

As I posted in the previous thread, taking out the music is basically taking away the program. If USFS wants to post something that will pique fan interest, put together a reel of highlights from each program with backstage 'behind the scenes' clips mixed in.
