The team is made up of 36 entries, totalling 48 athletes. By category, the team includes 10 men, 14 women, six pair teams and six ice dance teams.
These skaters may be considered to represent Canada on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit, the ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships and other international competitions.

See all the skaters named and more about the program here: https://skatecanada.ca/2018/08/skate-ca ... tgen-team/

I think Joseph Phan was the only name that rang a bell for me. Who else should I be keeping an eye out for?

I also like 2 newly formed teams who are stacking up nicely.
Alicia Fabbri/Paul Ayer and Ashlynne Stairs/Elliot Graham

I see who is sponsoring NextGen, but I'ld like to know how much funding has been allocated to support it, and where that money is coming from (i.e. are other SC programs being cut back or eliminated to direct the funds elsewhere).

I think it comes from Sport Canada. There were funds available for Next Gen programs and Skate Canada was one of the first to get a program together and claim them. But that's just what I've heard from other posters.

I was very impressed with the Dance team Makita/Gunara at Minto Skate, and last year at Nats when they were 2nd in Novice. I hope they stay the course over the next few years.

Agree. To me they have the most potential outside of Lajoie/Lagha.

Yeah, at their rate of improvement I expect they have a great shot at being junior champs once Marjorie and Zach vacate their throne to move up. Miku’s got an incredibly sunny smile.

Anyone know what’s going on with Fisher and Mallett-Paquette?
Still no word. Injury seems likely.

V-blogger Justin had pointed out Aurora Cotop prior to 2018 Nationals, then she didn’t do all that well.

She actually did fairly well at nationals, placing 5th as a first year senior. She melted down in the sp but had a very strong free skate landing 6 triples. Jr worlds was a bit of a struggle, but I have hope for her, especially with the new coaching situation.

DAssandro and Waddell are very young 14/16. They won the free dance at GTA and were 3rd at Minto

She did really well! She skated on the first JGP in the fall and then had to get through Sections and challenge as a senior. Being an Olympic year nationals was crazy. It was a long season for her and her first as a senior.
