That is very sad. I liked him so much on So You Think You Can Dance, and he helped Maks choreograph some of Meryl's amazing daces on Dancing with the Stars.

When Serge hugged you, he meant it deeply. He taught with love and was so proud of every stride each of his students made - no matter how small. I’ll never forget the way he always managed to make me feel safe, supported and proud. Watching him dance was a thing of beauty and he so generously shared that passion with many. What a heartbreaking loss for everyone fortunate enough to have met him. A rare human. He looked into your eyes and somehow you just knew you were friends. My deepest sympathies to Serge’s family and friends. ?

Serge was one of my dance teachers. He was awesome. He will be missed.

I knew him from So You Think You Can Dance, but didn't know he was also a skating choreographer. He was a great Latin Ballroom dancer.

I don't believe there has been any word of Serge being ill. Every article I've seen says the cause of death has not been released/is not known.
