Oh yes, I scare easily. First one that comes to mind is Daphne du Maurier's "Don't Look Now" (technically a short story). Scared me so badly I could hardly bear to turn out the light that night!
I try to read a spooky (not bone-chillingly scary) book every October. Some past reads include The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, Hallowe’en Party by Agatha Christie and kids’ book Splendors and Glooms by Laura Amy Schiltz.
I was a teenager....I was alone in the house at night reading "Salem's Lot." I had to put it down until my folks came home. I don't remember a book spooking me before that.
