Artemy Marinin is the cutest thing ever. He's pair skater tall, but really slender. I totally get why he's not interested in pair skating because who'd want that comparison to your father. He doesn't have the quads yet, but he has a certain elegance on the ice, and is flat out adorable. He started in dance but wants to do singles. I don't know how that's going to work out for him, but I really like his skating. Right now, he's just a baby, but there's something about him.

The last 7 men in the FS rocked. Trusova brought the baby to watch Daddy and Ignatov was absolutely clean Best FS I've seen from him in forever. Who knew just having your 3 month old around was the inspiration he needed. Fans are calling the baby Quintlutz.

Russian men are way more enjoyable than Russian ladies or any other discipline.
Loved Semenenko’s SP program yesterday, loved Savosin today even despite the mistakes, Ignatov finally hasn’t died by the third minute, very decent skates for the top skaters as well

Gumennik said that he took some rest after the Beijing qualifying event and is gradually getting back in top shape now to be ready for the Olympics, so his mistakes are kinda understandable. Unlike the others, his main competition of the season won’t be in December

At one point I was wondering why would the Olympians even compete in this series! It’s so meaningless for them. But of course they want to stay In shape

Ponomarentko and Bukin and well, not father, but Berezhnaya's daughter (Slutskaya's and Petrova/Tikhonov's and Pulin's daughters are not competing in their parents' cathegories)

I watched it without a VPN. The Russian youtube videos don't require a VPN.

If you're a Queen fan, Savosin's FS is one of the best Queen programs I've seen. He becomes Freddy Mercury and the crowds love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1i2DVl8r10 This is the link to the entire men's FS.
What order is Savosin skating? I can't quite make out the Cyrillic lettering, nor the announcer's pronunciation.

@Sasha'sSpins 2nd group, number 8 (or 2nd in the 2nd group). He's dressed like Freddy Mercury. You might want to watch the rest of the group. Ignatov skated next and was clean, then Mark, Gumennik and then Semenenko. And, you'll get a quick peak at a bundled up Baby Quadlutz. He was asleep in Sasha's arms and his eyes popped open when they announced Makar.

This weekend will be another loaded men's event with Gumennik and Dikidzhe. I feel sorry for Gumennik as he's getting a lot of fan hate by Dikidzhe's fans which isn't fair. It's not his fault Russia could only send one and he did win nationals last year. I like Dikidzhe a lot, but he's still a wild child and Gumennik's second marks will be higher. I think Russia made the correct choice under the circumstances. It's just too bad both can't go.

I guess the things is (besides the stupid fan wars) that Dikidzhi won Nationals, but Peter won Russian Cup Final that was announced to be a decider event for the Men’s quota

I do think the Fed did the right choice for several reasons, plus it’s not like Dikidzhi has been flawless this season

Regarding current Ice Dance requirements:

Alla Shekhovtsova said that they are creating new skill tests for junior ice dance teams. Basically she said that while Russian ice dancers are now much better at executing specific elements, being artistic and creative, their basic footwork and turns are lacking.
So they asked Khudaberdieva (who is now a head coach in juniors) and Ivan Volobuev to create new tests made specifically for dancers to improve their basic skating skills. Everyone present at a recent junior training camp could add some ideas. Now the coaches will try out the new steps this year and see how it works, but the plan is to make those tests mandatory for the next 4 years.

It’s kind of fair! Gumennik didn’t skate well. He chose to participate in this series -which he didn’t need to -and then he stinks? But he didn’t really stink it’s just not important for him at alll so he’s all taking it easy and having practice time.
