- You have your own figure skating academy. Hundreds of parents come, and we know that every parent thinks his child is the most talented, believes that something will come out of him without fail. Do you immediately tell them about the prospects?

- I always tell the truth to children and their parents. But children are brought to me at three, at four. Immediately no coach can tell if this child is talented or not. You have to work with him - at least a year to see how the child works, whether he likes it or not. Some of my figure skaters parents also gave away just like that, go for a ride, and now it has grown into a professional sport. It happens, lead a plump girl, and then she turns into a thin skater.

- For the sake of such successes it is necessary to work a lot ...

"I'll tell you our schedule." First-graders train from 7.00 to 8.15. None of the children misses the school. At 9 am they sit in the first lesson. The second training they have at one o'clock in the afternoon. Then there are additional classes - at will. Finish somewhere at 4 - 5 pm. Then the children go home and learn the lessons. I have a system of grants in the academy - if I see that the figure skater is promising, then he will train for free.
- You are training the Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova. She recovered after the injury - when we can see her at the competitions?

- Adeline started training: the work is going on in the hall - we are preparing the body, we are also working on the ice. I do not want to run ahead and say whether it will be released next year for competitions or not, life will show. At least she has such a fuse, there is such a desire. And this is the most important thing. If the athlete's head is ready, then the results will be.

- Are you a strict coach?

- Strict and exacting. This is not a secret either for parents or for children. In sports, you can not spare anyone to achieve results. After all, this is not physical exercise. To achieve a good result, you need to plow a lot and listen to the coach. My ultimate goal is to educate the champion.

- How many years can pass from the first training of a 4-year-old child to the first victory?

"Ten years."

- That is, after 10 years you and Sasha can win the World Junior Championships?

- I hope so.

- Is the figure skating modernized? What has changed in comparison with when they taught you?
- Much. There are modern simulators that are very helpful in training. For example, the twist that my trainer Alexei Nikolayevich Mishin came up with is a special disk with a control panel designed to train the vestibular apparatus. After this krutilki it is possible to fly to space - I myself tested this simulator when it was only invented. And now I bought for my athletes, like many other modern simulators. Training has become much more: I was up to 7 years of age skating an hour a day. My pupils - for five hours. In addition, they have training in the hall: stretches, a machine tool.

"I'm proud of this brainchild that we did with my wife Jana." - On New Year's Eve we are resting, we will celebrate at home with children and relatives. We do not plan to walk very much, because the next day we already have work. The last eight years I celebrate the New Year with "Tarhun" or mineral water.

- Everything, thank God, was without any incidents. A good year, when there are no shocks. We worked hard, put all our soul and energy into our children, that's why everything is great. I am glad that my Academy of figure skating was opened, my sportsmen won most of the competitions or stood on a pedestal. Let these competitions still not very large, but it was already all-Russian and international tournaments. I am very glad that Serafima Sahanovich came to train with me and already performed at the big international competitions Skate America.

- And what about home life?

- A very important event was the wedding, I went to him very long until I was ready. It was my desire, my proposal to Yana. The wedding deeply changes the concept of the meaning of the relationship between a man and a woman - you do not just give a word to each other (you can take it back), but before God promise to be close in sorrow and in joy.

- Are you a strict coach, but who at home - you or Yana - is a more strict parent?

- Dad spoils more than my mother, Yana is harder with the boys. And I sometimes have to turn on - it happens that sometimes you have to say something in an elevated tone. But this is rare, because our children, thank God, well-bred and obedient. Now Andrei and Kolya (the sons of Yana from the first marriage, who are 16 and 15 years old respectively - Ed.) Have matured, want more freedom, we control them, and they do not like it (laughs).
- Children are different now, not that we are from the USSR ...

- I do not argue, all life was different. We played with wooden toys ... Although in our time there were many pluses: in the courts playing football, the children communicated more, were more united. Now the guys are sitting with gadgets, but it's not bad either. Children develop much faster - I see it for my child. Sanya knows how to handle iPhones, aypad, how to enter the Internet, find and turn on a particular cartoon. I do not understand gadgets as well as my child, who turns 5 in January. Another generation is growing, more promising. And it's very cool. Life is changing - you need to actively behave. And if you are a mattress, it will not work.

- Your Gnome Gnomich (so parents call Sasha - Ed.) Is engaged in figure skating, is in demand as a model - opens and closes fashion shows in our country and abroad. What other loads does he have? Do you practice foreign languages?

- He teaches English, is engaged in the developing center, trains. But we have time and play in the evening.

- Do your dreams about the future relate only to coaching? Or is there something else? What do you want to do in 10 to 15 years?

- To be honest, I do not think so much. In the near future, in 2 - 3 years, I want to open a new sports academy, where the best coaches will work in different kinds of sports - figure skating, hockey, short track, speed skating, curling, judo, sambo. I want to spend more time with children, because now I often go on the road: constant performances, shows, trainings ... Even when I'm leaving for the day, I already miss and I want to go home to my family.

As for politics, it was already passing. I know - not my story, I do not even want to touch. If we talk about the prospects for work on the sports line, then in this direction the future can be - in the Olympic Committee or in the Ministry of Sport, or, perhaps, will be invited to head the federation. These are possible work options, when I will not go for a drive by age and health. And, of course, I will continue to produce - we are preparing the project for 2018.

- How are you doing now with health?

- The loads that were during the sporting events are no longer there, so everything is thankful to God. I regularly consult with doctors, they keep me under control (recall, Eugene had 15 operations on the spine.) - Ed.). You can not always be ill. Yes, there was a trauma at the last Olympics, from this no one is insured - it can happen to any person, we all walk under God.
