I guess the “midday” start is why Virtue/Moir have ditched the cunniliftus matinee.

Also could have mentioned that ticket sales have been sluggish so far, or that this event was happening before the Opening Ceremony, so there are other reasons other than starting time for the stands to be empty - but why let the facts get in the way of a good story.USA Today article: Early wake up call, start time impacts men in Olympic team competition
The first major Olympic event was nearly empty because of the American time zone demands:

Maybe, but I think there's more to the story than just the time of day.Maybe ticket sales are sluggish because people don't want to/can't take time off on a weekday morning.![]()
Did she say what time the practice is?One skater semi-comment about the schedule, on Mirai's IG story, she said the schedule where she has to head out to practice at 5:30 in the morning was not going to be easy for her.
Did she say what time the practice is?
No.
In Phil Hersh's Nathan Chen SP retrospective, there are quotes from Chen, Uno, and Chan about the early start times. I hope NBC takes note for Beijing though I doubt they will.
Maybe he was yawning because the Team Event is so boring.I think this tweet says it all about the early start:

The Olympic village isn't the quietest place on earth, especially when the first athletes start to get medals, so 2am is not a suprise, but I hope she can have proper sleep for the days to come :/ It will be crucial. And weird to see to Madison Chock posting on instagram at 2am, maybe still jet lag

Yes, it's known for parties and a lot of distractions, but it wouldn't be the greatest issue if they could wake up after 5 a.m at least...Really? mmm, well, I guess we can´t blame to nbc about it.
