Copa America final delayed by 30 minutes due to gate issues (gates weren’t opening, people started forcing they’re way in, some without +$1,500 tickets) can’t understand all the spanish tweets but many are calling this disgusting and a disaster due to the lack of security, especially in view of USA hosting the World Cup in 2026 along with Mexico.

Toronto and Vancouver are also hosting games and good luck to them (costs are obscene).

Sports Illustrated now saying the game is delayed “until further notice”.

Spiraling drone-spying scandal at Olympics risks damage to Canadian soccer ahead of 2026 World Cup

Canada has lost its appeal against the deduction of six competition points following a drone-spying scandal in the Olympic women’s soccer tournament.

Canadian soccer officials admitted in evidence to FIFA that spying on opponents was routinely done, for the men’s national team as well as the women’s team which has been punished for using drones at the Paris Olympics.

The drone-spying scandal threatens to spread beyond the Olympics, where Canada is the defending women’s champion, to the men’s team at the 2026 World Cup.

Actions by the Canadian team at the Olympics were “inexcusable and unacceptable,” wrote Eggleston, a former White House Counsel in the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama.

“Bev Priestman references that the men’s senior national team may have employed a similar scouting tactic,” the Canadian soccer federation wrote in its submission to the FIFA hearing.

In a past internal email about spying with drones on opponents’ practice sessions, Priestman wrote “I know there is a whole operation on the men’s side with regards to it.”
