The USA plays the winner of Wales/Scotland/Ukraine playoff first, then England second and Iran last to finish Group play.

Canada plays, in the following order, Belgium, Morocco, and Croatia in Group play.

I think that it is possible for both teams to get to the knock-out rounds, but it would be as the 2nd place team in their group.

NJL (Maybe..;) :biggrinbo ..)

That would be so cool! Can’t wait!
We will see soon enough. Canada pretty much knows the players they will have in Qatar. The USA, not so much. The sorting out process begins now. That is going to be interesting.

NJL (..And the same process for both Women's National Teams will be much the same. Their Octagonal for WWC2023 starts in July 2022...)

The 8 teams in the final CONCACAF competition for the WWC23 are: USA, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Panama, Haiti, and Trinidad and Tobago. The USA and Canada will be team #1 in Groups A and B respectively. There will be a CONCACAF draw on April 19, 2022 to place the other 6 teams in the 2 groups.

NJL (I have listed the 8 teams by FIFA rankings, #1 to #73. They are the 8 top ranked women's teams in the region.)

The draw to place the 8 teams from CONCACAF for the WWC23 in Australia/New Zealand has given:

GROUP 'A'
USA
Mexico
Jamaica
Haiti

GROUP 'B'
Canada
Costa Rica
Panama
Trinidad and Tobago

All games are to be played in Monterrey, Mexico with Group games being played on July 4 & 5, 2022, July 7 & 8, and July 11 & 12, 2022.

Both Semi-Finals are on July 14, 2022.

3rd Place and Final are on July 18, 2022.

NJL (The last time this Tournament was played in Mexico the USA lost to Mexico and had to play multiple games to qualify for the WWC2011. This makes me say that the USA actually has the more difficult Group because of that game. Maybe. We'll see in July.)

Qualification for this year’s soccer World Cup, already disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine, now faces more uncertainty after Chile this week called on FIFA to throw out Ecuador and hand its place in the tournament to Chile instead. Chile contends that its South American rival fielded an ineligible player who is in fact Colombian.

To support its case, Chile on Wednesday filed a claim, reviewed by The New York Times, that contains registry documents, including birth certificates, that it says show the defender Byron Castillo was not only born in Colombia, but also that he is three years older than is stated on the documents used to identify him as Ecuadorean.

FYI: In U17 women's CONCACAF W Championship semifinals the USA v Canada @ 7PM EDT on FS2 this evening after Mexico v Puerto Rico at 4PM EDT. The 2 winners will go to the U17 WWC in India. The third CONCACAF slot belongs to the winner of the 3rd place game. Both of those final matches will be played Sunday.

NJL (FWIW - 35 minutes into the 1st half: Mexico 4 v 0 PR. I doubt if the 7PM game will be similar.)

No sports club/franchise is worth that much money.

FYI: USA 2 v 1 Mexico in the championship game in CONCACAF u17 Women's World Cup. Canada 3 v 0 Puerto Rico in the consolation game for 3rd place. USA, Mexico and Canada qualify to play in next years U17 WWC to be played in India. Congratulations to all 3 teams for a well played tournament.

USA 0 v 0 Uruguay wasn't cancelled. Very entertaining despite the score. Was looking forward to seeing how the #1 team in CONCACAF would fare against Panama after that game ended. Got a Canadian Premier League game instead. Now I know why. Which team had the pay dispute and why?

Team Canada. They want 40% of WC money instead of the 10% being offered. But Canada do not get as much money from sponsorships as the US. I hope they settle this soon. I have no idea why the team can’t still play while negotiating with the governing body.

Wales beat Ukraine last night to qualify for the World Cup Finals for the first time in 64 years :cheer:

OK, I kind of wish we didn’t have to beat Ukraine but sport is sport. I’m thrilled for the team.
Watched the game. Bit of luck for Wales to score, but dogged defending to prevent Ukraine scoring. The Welsh fans roar at the end was heard live over here loud and clear. As USMNT Head Coach Gregg Berhalter said when asked about Wales being team USA's 1st opponent in November: "Wales, England, Iran and the USA; a very interesting group". Indeed. The fun begins on 11/21/2022. Let the good times roll....;)(y)

FYI: CONCACAF WWC qualifying has been going on in Mexico. The Group stage is over. The final four teams that are going to Australia/New Zealand for WWC 2023 are Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica and the USA. Canada v Jamaica is the late Semi-Final to be played Thursday 07/14/2022 and USA v Costa Rica is the early game. The two winners will play for the CONCACAF W Championship and a spot in the 2024 Olympics on Monday 07/18/2022. The loser of the final will play the winner of the third place consolation game for the other Olympic spot sometime in September.

The two Group 3rd place finishers, Haiti and Panama, will join eight other teams in a playoff for 3 more places in the WWC23. Incredibly CONCACAF could have six teams in that competition.

The forth place teams, Mexico (!) and TnT have been eliminated.

NJL (I have also been watching South America's competition for the WWC23 and UEFA Women's Championship, too. If the teams from CONCACAF and South America want to win the WWC23 every team I have seen thus far needs to improve drastically. UEFA's top teams are simply superior in every way. One of them will get the trophy in 2023. They are currently that much better.)

The CONCACAF W Champion for 2022 is the USA with a 1-0 win over Canada in the Final. Jamaica defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in the 3rd place game. The USA wins one of the two CONCACAF spots in the 2024 Olympics. Canada and Jamaica will play for the second spot in September 2023.

A member of Paris St-Germain has been arrested in connection of an attack on a teammate - both midfielders.

As a metal bar was the weapon, people have been drawing comparisons to "the Whack".

Update (Link valid for two weeks):

I always knew that figure skaters were a mean, violent crowd, but soccer players?!
