Nebelhorn Trophy - Pairs SP & FS

Why do I have Jacob and EfiMit skating at the same time, event organizers?! Gah.

Grassl & Rizzo skating at the same time as BecGuar and McBark is also unhelpful.

DanTsi - 3tw - nice; SBS 3s - hers was more sketchy than his for once; no TES tracker btw; throw 3 - huge; SBS 1a+1a+1a - those were a mess; first lift - excellent; choreo seq - fine; throw 3 - fall; second lift - good; last lift - going so great until they both fell on the dismount! FIDS - nice recovery - crowd helped applaud them back on track; pairs combo spin - eh.

Overall results after 1st skaters in Group 4:

I don't know about brown and cream for Romeo and Juliet. But they're pretty nice costumes aside from the colors.

You can tell this is Bec/Guar's first competition back after a while. A little rough in general, especially on the jumps. But it's a good program, and she looked so happy when she landed the second throw!

BecGuar - sorry Grassl, I care more about KittyPaws than you. 3tw - decent; SBS 3t+1a+1a - okay; SBS 3s - he doubled and stepped out - hot mess; FIDS - oh, I like interesting program layouts, this is nice; throw 3lo - good; first lift - excellent; second lift - good; throw 3s - nice; last lift - also nice; pairs combo spin - slow and not a great element to end with for them. I missed their choreo seq because I got a text message, but... Program is okay. Not terrible, not great or epic.

McBark - 3tw - nice; SBS 3t+2a - far apart but done; SBS 3f - both doubled; throw 3lo - both hands down and back up for her; first lift - nice; BODS - decent; right into the pairs combo spin - alright if slooooow; throw 3z - nice; second lift - very solid; choreo seq - eh; last lift - good.

Hmmmmm... TES is just below PerMich. I'd have them ahead of PerMich both in the FS and overall, but who knows what this panel will do.

I’m going to preface this with I like M/P. Both of their programs are misses for me this year. They both are more gritty skaters and they are skating to slow ballads. I think it’s a mismatch and probably hurts their PCS. Also, they need to add a 1A to the end of their 3T+2A sequence. I hate those but they are giving away points to not do it.

Hmph. The fact that they're behind PerMich in the FS is unacceptable, judges.

VouBou - Matrix program incoming... 3tw - huge; SBS 3t+2a - he fell on the 2a; SBS 3s - he pitched forward on the landing; BODS - fine; throw 3s - huge; first lift - alright; throw 3lo - hand grazed the ice on the landing; second lift - good; choreo seq - decent; they clearly need to work on their stamina; I missed one of their lifts; they ended with a sad pairs combo spin. Not bad, but I expect they're going to get dumped on PCS and may drop a spot or two - we'll see.

ETA - or many spots. Behind even HocKun with 4 skaters to go...

GhiAmbro - 3tw - okay; SBS 2s - because why else? SBS 2a+2a+1a - decent; first lift - okay; throw 3lo - very nice and right on the music; choreo seq - okay; throw 3z - bad throw and she managed to stay upright albeit pitched forward on the landing; second lift - fine; last lift - very powerful - they should end the program with that element rather than going into a FIDS and momentum-deadening pairs combo spin, just sayin'....

This should probably keep them in the lead.

EfiMit - 3tw - l4! SBS 3s+2a - she two-footed the 3s; SBS 3t - not her day for jumps; throw 3lo - beautiful; first lift - great dismount; pairs combo spin - pretty good; second lift - decent; throw 3s - hand down; last lift - nice; FODS - best one in the business right now; choreo seq - eh.

TES is currently well ahead of GhiAmbro and they're clearly the better team, so I expect it will stay ahead. He looks really gassed here at the end.

Those two sure know how to rock a saccharine ballad. (Now just imagine what they could do with really good music ... )
Well, that's what 2030 is for. I mean, them not getting citizenship this fall just means they've got to stick around another Oly cycle, right?
