Nebelhorn Trophy - Pairs SP & FS

That score was more generous than I expected.

Bandit is harassing me for food. She's going to have to suffer and wait until the next ice resurfacing, especially seeing as we've got EfiMit and MiuKih in this next group.

SP results after 2 groups:
1 Rebecca GHILARDI / Filippo AMBROSINI ITA 66.82 36.42 30.40 7.45 7.90 7.50 0.00 #4
2 Lucrezia BECCARI / Matteo GUARISE ITA 62.96 34.29 28.67 7.20 7.15 7.20 0.00 #2
3 Daria DANILOVA / Michel TSIBA NED 62.69 35.89 26.80 6.75 6.65 6.75 0.00 #5
4 Anastasia VAIPAN-LAW / Luke DIGBY GBR 60.05 32.73 27.32 6.95 6.80 6.80 0.00 #6

Megan WESSENBERG / Denys STREKALIN

2twist
sbs 3toe, both with hand down
throw 3sal fall out, hand down and then he falls on nothing shortly afterwards

pulls his shoulders up to his ears in the death spiral

this was - - not good

what happenend with his former partner?

Wessenberg/Strekalin - international debut, let's see how they do... I question whether or not they should have gotten that GPdF host spot based on their French Masters score; 2tw - uh-huh; SBS 3t - hands down from both on the landings; throw 3s - messy, two-footed landing; BIDS - eh; SBS spins - best element so far which isn't saying much; lift - well, that was actually quite nice; step seq - she's very smiley and it's rather off-putting.

I really wish the FFSG wasn't as shameless as they are in using all their host TBD spots on skaters/teams that are destined to finish dead-last by a wide margin. Some other, far more deserving pairs team is missing out on a 2nd GP assignment because THIS team is getting a host spot.

Alisa EFIMOVA / Misha MITROFANOV

3twist
sbs 3sal both fall, she ur
throw 3l
exit from the death spiral a bit messy and only level 2
good sbs spins to finish

EfiMit - ISU bio apparently still has the wrong music listed for their SP - this is most definitely not "Reel Around the Sun" lol. 3tw - alright; SBS 3s - and they BOTH go down - ouch; throw 3lo - huge & gorgeous; lift - so much speed; BIDS - eh; step seq - decent; SBS spins - unison a smidge off, but good for the most part.

Well, those SBS jumps were a big blot on the program but their TES is still ahead of GhiAmbro before the tech panel gets down to business.

I’d have them in 2nd despite the falls, they skate to the music so well.

ETA: first?

Wow - TES held for EfiMit - wasn't expecting that. That's a generous score.

Riku MIURA / Ryuichi KIHARA

ah same SP as last year
3twist
sbs 3toe, not sure about her rotation
wonderful throw 3lutz
that will be hard to beat for Hase/Volodin

MiuKih - 3tw - nice for them; SBS 3t - quite good; lift - flew across the ice; throw 3z - swish; SBS spins - unison is off; step seq - very dramatique; BIDS - excellent. They're thrilled about the performance, as well they should be.

After 3 of 5 groups we have the 2nd ice resurfacing.

SP results so far:

1 Riku MIURA / Ryuichi KIHARA JPN 78.19 42.02 36.17 8.85 9.10 9.25 0.00 #9

9 Megan WESSENBERG / Denys STREKALIN FRA 44.32 24.44 20.88 5.30 5.10 5.30 1.00 #7

That was a very quick, but productive break! Got the cat fed, litter changed, made some popcorn & am settled in for the last two groups!

PerMich - 3tw - very nice; SBS 3t - bit of a lean on the landing for him but otherwise good; throw 3lo - solid; lift - oh, major fail - came down before he even got one revolution done - issues going up they couldn't recover from; SBS spins - alright; step seq - decent; BIDS - good. Program is pretty generic, pairs lovey-dovey to an unremarkable adult contemporary ballad.

What happened to Lia/Trent? They seemed hesitant for a bit.
Trennt lost his center of gravity on the lift mount - he sort of swayed backward and couldn't sustain the forward momentum to get her all the way up, so the lift wound up coming down.

Katie McBEATH / Daniil PARKMAN

3twist
sbs 3toe
throw 3lutz

not bad but low levels her and there and three reviews

McBark - 3tw - very nice & light; SBS 3t - excellent; throw 3z - smallish & a bit forward on the landing but stayed up; lift - solid; SBS spins - unison needs a lot of work (per usual from TeamTodd&Jenni pairs); step seq - nice enough; BIDS - also solid. It'll be interesting to see what the judges do with this. Twist, throw & DS are under review, so I'm expecting they're going to wind up behind GhiAmbro when all is said & done.
