Marina Kielmann looks back on her life

It's not quite clear if she really wrote a book or if it is in the making. Fact is that she gave an interview, announcing a "short biography". Kielmann won several medals at Euros in figure skating during the early 90s, though she had started as a roller skater. Today she works as a coach, sits in the Jury, and also works as a life-coach. She was married but divorced and has no kids.

She mentions a "weird" episode with the team doctor during her eligible time, he had offered her an under-water treatment for her shoulder, she declined, and the next thing she remembers is that she was sitting in the bathtube naked with the naked doctor behind her. Till today she doesn't know what happened. She didn't speak to anybody about it till she met a former team mate (the doctor was already dead). The team mate suspected date rape drugs and mentions that she always thought it was weird that she had to take the t-shirt off when she had a problem with the foot.

There’s a book (she calls it a „short biography“), no idea why the interviews mention it, without saying what it’s called

I always liked her. I am glad she had redemptive skates at 93 and 94 Worlds. I remember thinking that I wished Kat had not returned so that Marina could have had a clear path to skate at Lillehammer in 94. I just thought that Marina was more tech with 3T-3T and 3F, and was more representative of the 90s than Kat was (my ideas on Kat have softened with time).

I liked that she tried harder elements even though her rotation was always sketch.

And those bizarre single loop combos she would do were weird.

Almost every triple Kielmann did would be called < or even << by today's standards.

I liked her roller skating-inspired combos and wish the ISU would add them to the Code of Points. I'd like to see, e.g., a sequence of up to six single and double jumps with nothing harder than a double lutz allowed.
