Losing a Pet (Family Member)

Thank you everyone for your kind words and for sharing your own painful memories of losing your furbabies. Your support has been comforting.

It's crazy how my stoic bullie managed to steal my heart. He was never the kind of dog that greeted you at the door. He would just lay in his bed and get up when he was ready. He would also totally ignore you if you tried to pet him or give him cuddles, but he would stick his bottom in your face for bum scratches.

I gave Brian's food to my dog sitter who has two bullies of her own. Brian would be mad if I let his food go to waste! He loved his food and treats and I'm sure he's happy to share it with his buddies. When I dropped it off at her house, I got bullie kisses and cuddles, so that helped.

I am also planning to donate Brian's bed, cooling pad, dishes, etc. to S.A.I.N.T.S. They are a rescue that takes in senior and special needs animals that are considered "unadoptable" and gives them a forever home. Maybe when I am ready I will look at either fostering or adopting one of these broken creatures. I already sponsor a little scruffy guy there.
