I can help. DM me with details. I'm not even sure exactly what you're doingThanks for the tip! That's a really good idea to add to the contacts list.
Is there someone who wants to tackle that part of this? I'm happy to share the list for editing with anyone who sends me a PM.![]()
Read that yesterday in German media and for once I can be proud of German government. She not only said it for Germany but recommended it for other countries as well. I hope more pick up this particular tune.![]()
German Minister threatens not to give Russian athletes visas
Germany’s Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has threatened to block Russian athletes from entering her country if they are permitted to compete internati...www.insidethegames.biz
They did in Japan. We saw Russian coaches there.I think that's the most likely outcome if the ISU and IOC reinstate Russia: they'll be allowed to compete, but they won't be able to compete in some competitions as countries won't give Russian athletes/coaches visas.
They gave visas to coaches, not athletes. And it's been pretty well-documented that most Asian, African, Middle Eastern and South American nations aren't participating in any travel sanctions against ordinary Russians. I'm not even sure the US State Dept is doing that either, else there wouldn't have been a Russian "contingent" at 4CCs.They did in Japan. We saw Russian coaches there.![]()
I hope France does it for the Olys next year.I think that's the most likely outcome if the ISU and IOC reinstate Russia: they'll be allowed to compete, but they won't be able to compete in some competitions as countries won't give Russian athletes/coaches visas.
I thought there was a "must issue" agreement for visas for Olympic athletes.I hope France does it for the Olys next year.
The IOC cannot compel the government of any host nation to provide visas, I don't think. The NOC and host city have to make their best effort to secure visas for athletes.I thought there was a "must issue" agreement for visas for Olympic athletes.
There would still be the problem with Russian coaches of foreign athletes (the Summer Games equivalent of Eteri Tutberidze, who coaches Daniel Grassl, who, of course, is an Italian). In fact, it is easier to make sure that the russians do not receive a single Olympic quota. Then the problem just disappears.
Yes this. It was one of the points made by the European fencing body to the international body. The IOC cannot compel the government of any host nation to provide visas, I don't think. The NOC and host city have to make their best effort to secure visas for athletes.
Of course, but it's not that simple. Coaches, like skaters, can have second citizenship. For example, Diana Davis can use her American passport, and Devid Narizhnyi can use his Ukrainian one. There would still be the problem with Russian coaches of foreign athletes (the Summer Games equivalent of Eteri Tutberidze, who coaches Daniel Grassl, who, of course, is an Italian).
I am aware of that. But IINM, there's another wrinkle, namely that Olympic coaches have to be part of a national delegation participating in the Games, so those coaches would need not just a second passport, but membership in the same delegation as one of their trainees. If this is so, then a coach in a Tutberidze-Grassl situation, for example, would need not just a second passport but specifically, in this case, an Italian one.Of course, but it's not that simple. You don't need a passport to be part of a delegation. Only athletes need a passport.I am aware of that. I assume that everyone would need a passport to get into the host country. You don't need a passport to be part of a delegation. Only athletes need a passport.
Now Tessa and Meagan will not be able to come to RussiaA screenshot of the letter (2 photos) has been tweeted by Perdita Felicien: https://twitter.com/perditafelicien/status/1633975580742897665
ETA: Tessa Virtue and Meagan Duhamel are the 2 figure skaters who signed and Kaitlyn Weaver replied "I’m sure they would have had more than 40 signatures if it was sent to more people! Missing from my inbox"
Naturally, they need a passport. But in that example, Eteri doesn't need an Italian passport. She can be a member of the Italian delegation even with a Georgian passport.I assume that everyone would need a passport to get into the host country.
:'(Now Tessa and Meagan will not be able to come to Russia
Is it fair to characterize a entire country based on their leadership? Would it be fair to characterize the United States based on their erected president from 2016-2020?Russia really thinks that the world revolves around them. They're like a bunch of spoiled toddlers.
No moreso than it would have been fair to characterize all Americans as adulterers based on our elected President from 1993-2001.Is it fair to characterize a entire country based on their leadership? Would it be fair to characterize the United States based on their erected president from 2016-2020?
